Good grief, you are obtuse. The staff got NOTHING at all where they could have had $20-30/hr - very good for a public holiday. But because of ridiculous levels of penalty rates, they got nothing at all.

They got a day off to spend with friends and family. Had they worked while their friends and family holidayed they should have received penalty rates.

You do know that people get paid for a public holiday if they don't work right ?

If on $20 an hour getting paid $20 would be effectively getting paid nothing and $30 would be @ $10 an hour on a public Holiday.  Nobody is going to do that.

At one part of the story they were guaranteed a full restaurant all day which is dubious at best on what would have probably been a quiet day and then there is no profit.

Your position is correct that is if you believe the story at all.

Sounds like a poor location dependant on parliament for their business on a PH where nobody is working. The Cricket and music festival would have been more likely to minimise their business than to be any help.

Had they really going to be full capacity all day that would have made a motza, the truth is they were going to be paying high cost and low business, the obvious situation where the business closes and everyone had a Public Holiday the way it is meant to be.

The story is a crock.

Because from a different city, with no experience in the industry or knowledge of the location, YOU know better than the owner.

Some times you are incredibly silly.

The comments in the article were contradictory and defied logic was more the point.

Adelaide Casino

Restaurants:

Seans Kitchen, Madam Hanoi, Barossa Caf'e, Fortuna Buffet, Oasis outdoor bar.

Parliament House

Public Holiday.

the Festival Centre

A few shows mainly in the evening..

the Adelaide Oval

T20. They close about the time the game ends.

Sorry but I can not see it being a big day for them, in the Adelaide restaurant list they are number 93 they are nothing special when there are several high rated restaurants in the Casino and all around them.

Correction: their only interest is in cutting other people's pay - and with no compensation.

The business isn't failing.

They had the opportunity to make a $200 profit, and turned it down.

So, they closed on one day.

In what way is this business failing?

Seriously - grow a set of balls and answer the question.

Incorrect.

They got a day off work, and they were paid for it.

Your astounding ignorance has been noted.

Something like 82% of businesses fail every public holiday.

No don't think so.

Not having to open on a PH is a positive not a negative.

Nope.

Nobody lost their jobs.

The workers stayed home, and were paid.

They returned to work the next day.
