They are also deploying more copper - it's more expensive and slower than fibre.

This has now gotten beyond a joke.

Turnbull is up the creek: the official emblem of the "L"  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes iberal Party of Australia is actually an elephant thanks to one man... well two but Tony deserves a break.

Mentioned above but:

Quote:
news The chief executive of the NBN company has stated in a radio interview that the National Broadband Network will eventually go to “the same place” as Labor’s original Fibre to the Premises model through continual upgrades to the network over time, in a move which appears to offer long-term hope for those displeased by the Government’s controversial multi-technology model.

https://delimiter.com.au/2016/01/27/morrow-hints-at-long-term-fttp-upgrade-for-m...

You would have to be stupid or a Lib voter (a tautology there) to believe that crap! As was pointed out, new copper is being run out everywhere. Copper is more expensive to roll out and because it will inevitably corrode, be attacked by rats and other vermin etc will incur hefty maintenance costs. Copper also needs more power than optical fibre (5V.)

Then the stupid nodes cannot be used to move to FTTH, the nodes will have to be ditched and new fibre rolled out from exchanges. So as well as heading for >$100Bn cost to roll out the MTM crap we will have to pay the $44Bn to roll out fibre again. The opportunity cost makes these eye-bleedingly huge sums pale in comparison.

That article,.. not to mention every other article about the NBN,... makes sleeping very difficult for every Liberal voter.

The questions it raises not only about efficiency but of general shennanigans shown not only by the foreign investor cabal party but also of the media makes this whole thing a spittooon of a country that people actually died for.

PEOPLE DIED FOR THIS and it's about time Turnbull was told this in no uncertain terms.

Under the Libs NBN Co has developed a culture of lying to the public.

I have now got a pillar next to the node cabinet around the corner of my street. When told I need to move to FTTN I will look for a decent wireless broadband service. FTTN over Telstra copper  is a sad joke. The cabinets are WAY underprovisioned with fibre. Crazy! Waste of money, waste of opportunity.

This is why FTTDp, compromise between FTTH & FTTN, will be run out starting some time this year:

http://www.roymorgan.com/findings/6633-netflix-growth-slows-by-end-of-year-decem...

By end 2015 one million homes were subscribed to Netflix. That will more than double by the end 2016. Australians are early adopters of new technology.

Ha! Ha bloody ha! I am right and Turncoat is wrong! FTTN is a non–starter here!

I had driven to do a bit of shopping and coming back saw a tech working on the node cabinet so pulled over and had a bit of a chat.

Firstly, the node is not airconditioned. The first tech I spoke to said there was an airconditioner in the back of the cabinet. Not quite, there is a heat exchanger there. hehehehehehe the heat exchangers work up to 30°C. Gets warmer than that in Australian summers. The tech working on the node said that NBN Co had a warning just before Christmass. But ideology not common sense prevails at NBN Co.

Secondly, there really is not enough fibre to give much more than 12:1 and less than that as the area served by the node is cut over to the FTTN crap.

Thirdly, the tech hinted that FTTDp would replace FTTN before long. That is what I have read and believe. Read Whirlpool, FTTN is not delivering—and this is the early days with not many on the actual FTTN yet.

The technician also made a comment about Labor’s NBN, saying that the engineers didn’t listen to people like him working on the actual coal face leading to some delays and costs. Particularly that some ducts had collapsed in places, tree roots etc. Yup, a real engineer will have hands on experience and will listen to his para professionals.

So there you have it. FTTN is finished, FTTDp will be rolled out instead. When, who knows?

If Labor wins the next election, I hope so many NBN co execs and Turnbull and Morrow and such are thrown into prison for misleading the senate inquiry, fraud and the blatant embezzling scheme that is going on.

I doubt it will happen though, Labor hasn't even mentioned that the ABC gagged NBN coverage and sided with the Liberals on an editorial level which would be a goldmine of ammo for them.
