Know the enemies of a civil society by their public behaviour, by their fraudulent claim to be liberal-progressive, by their propensity to lie and, above all, by their attachment to authoritarianism.

Tripe, does anyone eat tripe any more?

I remember my mother making it a couple of times when I was little.  Maybe when Dad had ulcers, I don't know.  I never tried it.  Never will.  Pass pass pass.

Rhubarb is delcious, Red. Try an apple and rhubarb tart or crumble. I often cook strawberries with the rhubabrb. Yum!

Tripe—I can eat a little bit of tripe cooked the way the chinese do it but it is not my favorite.

Tongue, sweetbreads (thyroid gland) liver and kidney—yum!

Beef cheeks, cooked long and slow as in beef rendang, yum! Glossy and gelatinous.

Anybody tried junket and syllabubs?

Do not like junket.  The 'curds' are ok but the 'whey' is gross.

Obviously it wasn't cooked properly.  Rhubarb is delicious as a dessert (usually accompanying custard, ice cream or yoghurt), added to an apple pie or in jams.  It can also be served with pork belly, to balance the fattiness of the meat.

Personally, no, Shocked BUT I will, and have, cleaned, prepared and cooked tripe. My other half loves offal of all descriptions especially sheep pluck. I don't,  Lips Sealed but that doesn't stop me cooking it for him and the twins. I want my children to be able to eat everything, to educate their palettes etc.

You sure it was junket? I've yet to see one that looks like vomit, it's more like a firmer, less airy instant pudding. Well, the one's I've seen anyhoo.

Agree, and it's YUM with roasted pork belly. I used to eat it raw when I was a wee girl, even though I didn't really like it raw. Weirdo.

Mock Chicken:

Chop 1 medium sized onion finely and cook in a little butter, but do not brown. Add a small tomato skinned and sliced, 1 teaspoon mixed herbs, salt and pepper and 1 beaten egg. Cook slowly till mixture thickens. Pile on cheese or water biscuits and garnish with parsley.
