Mosque attacked, copies of Koran burnt in Corsica

An angry mob retaliating over attacks on firefighters and police has ransacked a Muslim prayer house in the French island of Corsica. The crowd set books, including several copies of the Koran on fire.
Tensions mounted in Ajaccio, Corsica's largest city of some 65,000 residents, after a night of violence in Jardins de L'Empereur. Two firefighters and a police officers were injured in what the authorities described as ambushes by “several hooded youths” in the low-income neighborhood.
On Friday afternoon, some 150 demonstrators gathered in front of the police HQ in a show of support, AFP reported citing officials. But part of that crowd broke off and joined an estimated 600 people, who marched towards the housing estate where violence had occurred the night before. The crowd was shouting slogans in Corsican, such as: "Arabs get out!" and "This is our home!"

The angry demonstrators ransacked a nearby Muslim prayer house, smashing glass and partially burning some 50 books, including copies of the Koran.

Well . . . maybe. The trouble with Rightists is they have no ethics other than the making of money, and would sell out in the blink of an eye. I believe any solution is neither Left nor Right. It has to be the rise of Anti-Islamist demagogues with all encompassing policies restricting the movements of Muslims, their finance, their religion, and the withdrawal of Western businesses and media influence in Muslim countries. Of course it is a pipe dream. Islam has declared war on the West, and it will win because most people don't even believe there is a problem.

Anti-Muslim protests continue in Corsica despite ban on gatherings

The latest news says that large number of people took to the streets on the French island of Corsica on Sunday, in violation of the ban on demonstrations imposed in the regional capital of Ajaccio after two days of anti-Muslim protests.
The protesters attempted to make their way to the Jardins de l'Empereur neighborhood, which was the epicenter of the protests on Friday and Saturday, and of the Christmas Eve clash in which two firefighters and a police officer were injured.

However, the riot police erected a fence at the entrance to the low-income neighborhood, where the majority of residents are immigrants, and prevented the crowd from getting inside.

The demonstrators carried the Corsican flag and shouted slogans, heard in the city during the previous days of protest: "This is our home" and "Arabs get out."
