Ban the Nativity - political correctness gone mad

A federal judge has banished the Baby Jesus and the Three Wise Men from an Indiana high school’s Christmas musical.

U.S. District Court Judge Jon DeGuilio, appointed to the bench by President Obama, issued an injunction against Concord Community Schools on Dec. 2

An Indiana public high school will not be allowed to portray a Nativity scene with live performers as part of the 2015 Christmas Spectacular, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.

U.S. District Judge Jon E. Deguilio granted a preliminary injunction in a federal lawsuit against Concord Community Schools, writing in the order that the show "conveys a message of endorsement of religion, or that a particular religious belief is favored or preferred."

"Accordingly, the court finds that the plaintiffs are likely to succeed on the merits on their claim that the inclusion of the living Nativity scene in the show, as currently proposed, violates the Establishment Clause," the judge wrote.

Good. Keep religion out of schools. Unless it is comparative study of them.

Agreed. Religion has no place in state education

I don't have a problem with anyone doing religious stuff, as long as they aren't discriminating against other faiths (by not allowing them the same rights), or getting government money for it.

I think the Satanic Temple have the best idea regarding these events though, everywhere one religion is promoted, they apply for equal rights for their religion, much to the hilarious outrage of fundamentalists everywhere.

The message is clear IMO....If you want children to learn about religion send them to a private school that teaches about the particular faith that you want your children to be indoctrinated into....If you want your children to get an education without this indoctrination send them to a public school....What is wrong with having choice???

Huh Huh Huh

We are a Judao-Christian society and we celebrate Xmas in remembrance to the birth of Christ

The Nativity is a recreation of the birth of Christ

Schools put these plays together to bring the community together in celebration.

We seem to be putting prayer rooms in then taking out Nativity i.e. inclusive of the minority but then excluding the majority

No Maqqa. We are a secular society.

Baby Jesus and the Nativity scene has a place......inside the church and at faith based schools, but not in the public school system.

Keep public education secular, lest we have mad people blowing the schools up in the name of religion.

So does that apply to all religions in Australia?

You would like that to be so, but it's not true.

America believes it is (they invented that title for themselves) and if we are the 51st state of America, must we say we are too?

Fanatics from any religion, I suppose so.

Yet you don't offer any evidence to back it

I believe the US is close to if not above 70% Christian and in Australia its about 60%

The early days were even higher
