How long does this fasting last?
Are they permitted to drink water during the day?

Sunrise to sunset, for the length of Ramadan, and generally no.

Baby Jesus and the Nativity scene has a place......inside the church and at faith based schools, but not in the public school system.

Keep public education secular, lest we have mad people blowing the schools up in the name of religion.
So does that apply to all religions in Australia?

Absolutely not. The Old Testament needs to be taught.

Burn them. Stone them. Smite them.

100% correct....I fail to see what Maqqa is complaining about!!!

Huh Huh Huh

We are a Judao-Christian society and we celebrate Xmas in remembrance to the birth of Christ

The Nativity is a recreation of the birth of Christ

Schools put these plays together to bring the community together in celebration.

We seem to be putting prayer rooms in then taking out Nativity i.e. inclusive of the minority but then excluding the majority

No Maqqa. We are a secular society.

Maqqa,

I agree with what mothra said!!!         Shocked

Dictionary;
secular = = not religious, sacred, or spiritual.

Maqqa,

Psalms 9:16
The LORD is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.
17  The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

Yadda, mothra and phil

My assertion is that we are a Judeo-Christian society. If you look at the definition of Judeo-Christian you will find it means "to have moral/ethics based on roots/foundation on Judaism and Christianity principle"

You guys/gals collectively agree that we are a secular society. Secular refers to being separate from religious rules and teachings

I would disagree in that we are moving away from it.

Gay marriage is one such example

Thou shalt not kill

Thou shalt not steal

Australia Parliamentary system is a Westminster System. This was founded in England during the time where Church of England was strongest

We still have prayers at the beginning of the day.

So we are moving closer to secularism but we are not a secular society

Spin Maqqa.

Do you want to be subject to secular law, based on reason, or some, any really, religious law?

Thou shalt not bear false witness.

How many of the ten commandments do you believe our law should follow Maqqa?

Good. Keep religion out of schools. Unless it is comparative study of them.

That's fine by all means

so Halal food in the school tuckshops/canteens goes as well .... right?

Why? Should vegetarian food go? Gluten free?

Are 'vegetarianism' and 'gluten intolerance' religions?

Is halal food a religion?

"...any food to be considered halal it must comply with the religious ritual and observance of Sharia law."

Water is halal, are you "observing sharia law" by drinking that too?
