I can forgive the BBC

For its largely left-wing news & current affairs productions . . .because it has produced such a wealth of quality television & radio drama and comedy.

With this one proviso, that as its news & current affairs have become progressively more left-wing, the quality of its comedy has noticeably declined in inverse proportion.

BUT, I can never forgive the ABC, because while its news & current affairs have become more left-wing, it has produced, relatively speaking, little in quantity or quality in drama & comedy.

The comparison is frankly odious.

Know the enemies of a civil society by their public behaviour, by their fraudulent claim to be liberal-progressive, by their propensity to lie and, above all, by their attachment to authoritarianism.

Particularly comedy wise I'd disagree. But comedy is largely subjective

In a time of universal deceit — telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

No evidence whatsoever it can be attributed to George Orwell or Eric Arthur Blair (in fact the same guy)

I am not sure you can blame the ABC for its lack of successful comedy. There have been a string of one season comedies over the years. Ratings are going to drive the decisions and perhaps Australia does not have the talent for something broadly funny. And if it is to be definitively Australian there is the problem that Australians don't laugh at themselves very easily.
