Brazilian Army set to receive AFVs from US Army
Oct 12th, 2015 at 9:14pm

Quote:
The Brazilian Army expects this year to receive 50 US Army-surplus tracked armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs), the service told IHS Jane's on 7 October.

The fleet comprises 34 BAE Systems' M577A2 command post vehicles, 12 M113A2 personnel carriers, and four M88A1 recovery vehicles. The vehicles will not be modernised before or after being shipped to Brazil.

The acquisition was set up as part of the army's Strategic Project to Attain Full Operational Capability (PEE OCOP). The US Excess Defense Articles (EDAs) are being received through the US Department of Defense's Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme.

COMMENT
It is understood training, spares, tools, and other associated equipment and services are also part of the package.

I am from a foreign government. This is not a joke. I am authorised to investigate state and federal bodies including ASIO.

I remain increasingly concerned about the possibility of the Brazilian Defence Forces launching a pre-emptive strike on Canberra using M113s....

It's OK Grap. The AFVs supplied as EDAs as part of the army's SPAFOC (PEE OCOP) through the DoD's FMS programme(?) are not waterproof...they'd sink before they got here.
