Humans Are Extincting Ourselves
Sep 16th, 2015 at 2:14pm

Half of all marine life lost in 40 years: WWF report

The populations of some marine species have declined by 49 per cent in just four decades, according to one of the most extensive surveys of sealife ever compiled.

The Living Blue Planet Report, just released by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in collaboration with the Zoological Society of London, documents the extraordinary losses, which occurred from 1970 to 2012. Alarmingly, some fish species were found to have declined by almost 75 per cent.

Anyone that doesn't believe we are in a human created mass extinction and humans are on the verge of extincting ourselves ... like to argue your delusion?

First of all, "extincting ourselves" is exceptionally poor grammar.

Second, there are more humans alive today than there have ever been.  It's not "on the verge" by any measure.

From the report. -

' A recent study by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration modelled the future of US Arctic waters, and
concluded that within decades, “the diverse ecosystems that
support some of the largest commercial and subsistence fisheries
in the world may be under tremendous pressure” (Mathis
et al., 2015).'

http://awsassets.wwf.org.au/downloads/mo038_living_blue_planet_report_16sep15.pd...

Ah, models.

It also lists 'Ocean Acidification', which won't happen unless there is at least a 1500% increase in 'acidification'. Rising sea levels, which aren't accelerating, much to the dismay of the alarmists.

Seeing as the oceans amount to about 80% of the earth's surface, how much was sampled?

So the number of equates to the strength of the species rather than the inability to keep those numbers alive due to the destruction of the environment that supports it.

Interesting concept.

Does anyone back honkey's view?

So your argument isn't the 49% lost already in a short period ... it's future modelling because it hasn't occurred yet.

So you will not believe we are extincting ourselves until we have?

Despite the destruction its supporting more humans than ever before.  Its nof even a subsistence existence for many, its decadent. Theres obviously no inability to stave off extinction.

Its not an "interesting concept" at all.

The environment supporting more humans results in speeding the destruction of that environment.

The only outcome of this path is a faster collapse of the environment and so a faster extinction of humanity.

Gradual ecological destruction leads to a gradual reduction in numbers, not extinction.

Yet the destruction of environment is not gradual.
And it's speeding up.

What was the methodology used to arrive at that conclusion? What size was the sample area? The total ocean area is given as approx. 361.9M sq kms, I'm sure they didn't sample all of it.

You should look up "extinction" and "gradual" before continuing on this line.

So you don't believe the report.
Gee ...  no evidence will ever be good enough for you I suppose.

How about the other way around ... do you have any proof the environment is not being destroyed by humans?

There have been cases of extremely large populations, and then within a short time period, collapse of that population.

Mass human starvation would be a rather fast occurrence ... especially once cannibalism kicks in as well.

7,300,000,000 people.....it's teetering on too many.

Survival of the fittest 5,000,000,000 is manageable, skrew the other 2.3 billion weaklings!  I won't miss 'em. (that is, if I'm still around myself) Grin Grin

Natures way of culling the human race is through disease & famine....we'll see both.....it's due, before the next ice-age, where only the fittest DNA will survive the icy millennium, & then repopulate earth after the thaw with some human like beings as has been done many times since Earth's beginnings.   Wink

Sorry, I just don't see this sea ice decline.

Perhaps you should read the report, rather than the news item. Is this the evidence of which you speak?
