so cafes can no longer refuse to serve the unemployed??  Banks should be forced to give mortgage loans to the unemployed? BTW that was a primary cause for the GFC

how did they find jobs before TELEPHONES, or before cars, what about before the telegram?

They were advertised in the newspaper. You went to a public phone and rang the boss.

They were stuck on the wall in the CES, you ripped one off, gave it to the clerk behind the desk and she/he rang the boss and made the appointment for you.

Both methods are superceded, something the righties have no conception of.......progress what!

Quite right.

My daughter joined 3 job network agencies to try to find some casual work in between uni and studying. All she gets is phone calls trying to coerce (and i use that word deliberately) her into courses that cost a fortune.

Bloody useless.

Back when i was a kid, we had the CES.  Walk in, pull a job off the board. Too easy.

you know a statement is going to be a dewey-eyed walk down memory lane when it starts with 'back when I was a kid...'

that same 'too easy' period of time was also unemployment of 10%.  give me 5.9% any day.

turn the hoses onto them.

We turn the hoses on all the rightard bludgers. This country is full of lazy rightard misers who have not donated to charity for years and who do nothing but sit on their arses all day looting money from other people's work.

and ironically it is the right-wing RICH people who outgive the lefites and poor by  very big margin. Bill Gates gives more money to charity than the rest of the population of the planet combined.  Warren Buffet is trying to beat him. Twiggy spends more money on training aboriginals than some governments.  there are exceptions... Gina gives nuffin to nobody, but neither do a lot of other people.

That's because rich people generally are right wing. Also Warren Buffet or Gates would barely be considered "Right wing" in the modern political climate more like centrist-liberals. Fox News calls Buffet a Communist ffs.

whilst 13.4 % is bad, in the big spending, big government, big debt nations like spain, italy and france it varies between 25 %  and up to 50 %.

only small business can employ young people, governments are too broke.

make life easier for small business.

and if that were the discussion you might have a point. But then you'd have to quote the youth unemployment figures of the 70s as well which alas, do not exist. That way you can pretend all you want.

you are the one who brought discrimination on employment status into it dimwit. Can you find a singular example of that even existing?  the discimination against the unemployed that you claim exists in hiring is just  a story.  Discrimination implies invalid reasoning, not valid rejection. A person with spotty emplyment history or has been unemplyed for 3 years without clear reason represents a risk for employers. That is not discrimination. it is risk management.

I also look forward to you explaining how employment has no impact on loan applications. That should be good.

But you specialise in lying and being obtuse.

It's psychological and out of self interest.
Studies have shown that people who win the lotto tend to turn instantly right wing as well.
