On a scale of 1 to 10, how disappointed are you going to be when the inevitable happens and the LNP are returned to govt?

You must know deep down that Labor is not coming back from the vast chasm it faces. Maybe next time.

But imagine all the changes the LNP can make in another three years. And just think what a boost to the federal Libs will come from another Qld victory.

You can imagine the Coalition receiving a "boost", but that's wishful thinking. They won't get any kind of boost from winning an election that the pundits have been predicting for some time that they would win.

The only conceivable boost would be if Newman somehow manages to retain his seat. That isn't likely on current polling.

No one is expecting labor to win this election after suffering the greatest defeat in the history of Australian elections. But the LNP is certainly set to face an absolute massacre, with very best case scenario emerging with a wafer thin majority of maybe 3 seats or so. There is also the very real possibility the Premier himself will lose his seat. Incumbent leaders always consolidate their hold in their own electorate as their profile increases. What happened to Newman? Why are things going so bad for him in Ashgrove? NSW libs are not facing nearly as much of a problem, and their majority was far less - and despite a massacre amongst its ranks courtesy of ICAC. So there is clearly something very much on the nose with the LNP up there. Sure you expect some electoral readjustment after last election, but not to the extent that we are now talking possible hung parliaments and the Premier himself losing his seat.

You lot have nothing to crow about when it comes to Queensland LNP.

Seriously, what is it with the LNP and tripping over in what should be shoe-in elections - Greiner, Kennett - now it seems Newman and Abbott.

after labor got almost annihilated last time, of course they are going to make a stellar comeback. they have nowhere else to go! and the polls are predicting and easy and comfortable LNP victory. 53/47 is hardly close.

I don't expect labor to win the next QLD election, although I expect Newman to dissapear into oblivion once he loses his seat ... that said, the polls are still close, anything can happen

I have only seen one member of the public manage to approach Mr Newman for an unscripted chat, and he was complimentary

Called at Christmas / New Year when nobody is watching or cares obviously meant to avoid the maximum scrutiny possible and to get under the guard of the voters.

Obviously a dishonest and tricky move of a government with plenty to hide and desperate to not be accountable for their term in office.
