It is nobody else’s garden Lisa!

Aussie can confirm.

Last time I was in Adelaide was decades ago.....and all I saw was the inside of a Motel Room and a Swimming Complex.

Ohhh that sounds awful. Next time, we're all crashing out at George's place. I'm sure he won't mind lol.

We just need to remember to pack a few shovels and spades so that we can help him out during our stay on his farm Smiley

No not a farm Lisa-- and you might have to take a swag  Tongue

Crikey, you've got me worried now. Swag? I don't have one of those. I suppose a billy can might be needed too. Does George live in the outback or something?

Yes way out the back 'O'Adelaide..   Cool

Hope he isn't anywhere near those dreadful bushfires.

The kids and I picked our first 5 tomatoes this morning. They're big, juicy and smell lovely.

But we only found one cucumber on our cucumber vines. It's a bit of a worry actually. We have 12 cucumber vines all looking awesome with plenty of yellow flowers. Only 1 average sized cucumber? Just doesn't seem right to me. Anyone else experiencing a similar issue?

Our strawberry patch is producing heaps this year. Just not sure why the fruit isn't as sweet as last year's crop  Embarrassed

Gardening would fit better in Fermentations—cucumbers can be fermented into gherkins, oils can be flavored  Cheesy with homegrown chili and garlick, zucchinis pickled and so on. Not really a relationships thing.

Pretty feeble, tenuous link.  Wink

Well ..... given the rubbish being posted around this topic, it kinda gives Relationships a little sanity atm.

Lot of possible reasons.

They like a slight acid soil.

Compost can help

drainage must be good.

Good soil raised bed and compost mostly does the trick. I have had it happen some seasons and never worked out why and the next year was fine with no change. I have heard of people rotating beds. you can try to encourage secondary plants by encouraging runners instead of fruit on the main clumps - pull off the flowers on the main plant early in the season - 3 or 4 secondary clumps per main plant max.

I rather like them a bit sour.

I think this is as good as anyplace but I never get it right.

It could have gone in tool shed as there is an inference to the garden sore of or in the Greens to create a stir.

Maybe there could be a gardening topic if people are interested?

I typically do not care where topics get posted but from experience if something belongs nowhere I tend to think it should go in the general category but have noticed that FD moves things out of general and uts them where he thinks it should go.

I have not grown cucumbers for a lot of years - some stuff is sort of rattling around in my head but nothing that I would trust.
