You have chapter and verse I suppose? What's funny is that if we were headed for a near extinction, the people with Ebola in west Africa are probably going to be the winners. There would be huge benefits to them and their chance of survival arising from the decimation of the first world. No more missionaries.

Plausible - Africans have more genetic diversity than the rest of humanity combined.

It's a bit like HIV - some are resistant to it and HIV cannot make them sick. HIV will not be a killer in the future though. More people will be resistant and the virus will mutate to be less virulent. Eventually - perhaps 1000 years from now - HIV will be a virus that nearly everyone gets but kills few people.

Collapse of the current petroleum baswed easy energy economy will result in a massive downturn in the ability to produce and move goods - for those countries not wise enough to look for alternatives NOW - and a consequent descent of the globe into war, disease, destruction on the mega scale, and depopulation of many areas, leading to invasions of those areas still capable of sustaining life.....

That's why China is buying farms here now.... but the little rascals don't realise we'll just resume them.

Now - on that issue of future defence demands ........
