LNP say No!

The prime minister insists Australians won't budge on climate change, no matter what the leaders at the G20 summit say.

Tony Abbott has defended the government's record, hours after the Brisbane meeting that resulted in the globe's largest economies declaring their support for strong climate action.

At a news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, he said the government is doing a great deal to combat global warming and doesn't intend at this time to do more.

He says the government's commitment is a five per cent reduction of carbon emissions at 2000 levels by 2020, which is a 19 per cent cut against business as usual.

The federal government resisted pressure to make climate change a priority issue at the Brisbane summit.
