I'm with you, but I won't hold my breath waiting for this incompetent, warmongering, neo fascist government to take affirmative action.

I am with you.
It should be a standard action against such a disease.

Since the maximum incubation period of ebola is 21 days, 40 days is overkill.

You know what else is overkill?  Ebola.

Nigeria has kicked ebolas arse, while supposedly more "civilised" and "educated' countries (like oz) are practically inviting Ebola to come and kill their citizens.

Reading about Nigerias response, it seems like they didnt put people in massive lockdown until they displayed symptoms. Any contacts were just required to report by text their symptoms twice a day.

The problem as far as I have read about in the other countries is that the infected are in poor, remote villages where its hard to get to and hard to set up proper medical facilities, the usual African medical issues.

Here's What We Should Learn From Nigeria's Incredible Effort To Shut Down Ebola

That's not a problem - that's good.  Isolation means it soon runs out of hosts and burns out, just as every other ebola outbreak has done before.  It's crazy to send or allow nice people to travel through there. Bob Katter said something about this:

Quote:
Mr Katter said on Thursday it was "unbelievable and incomprehensive" how a person could get into Australia from an Ebola infected country.

"There cannot be any compromise with this," Mr Katter said.

"If you want to go to one of these countries, however laudable your motivation, I am sorry but when you return to Australia, you must be quarantined for three weeks - not home quarantined."

Yes but then that makes me instantly suspicious.

Trusting people to self-monitor with something so vitally important is stupid. I also think a quarantine is a good idea. They should also have their temperature monitored before boarding at all transit points.

I agree with you annie, but WARNING, you'll never get to progressive's heaven with attitudes like that.
