The 'caliph' has a PhD in islamic theology.

Maybe he does, I don't know if you are being serious, but it wouldn't matter if he does.

Does it mean all muslims who have PhD's in islamic theology support his head-hacking views? Of course it doesn't - not even remotely.

What does it mean then, to have a PhD in Islamic studies from the Islamic university of Baghdad?
That he is a Foucauldian post-structuralist queer theorist or that he is a doctor of Islamic studies?

Just a tiny minority.

Palestinian Areas. A poll in 2011 showed that 32% of Palestinians supported the brutal murder of five Israeli family members, including a three-month-old baby. In 2009, a poll showed that 78% of Palestinians had positive or mixed feelings about Osama Bin Laden. A 2013 poll showed 40% of Palestinians supporting suicide bombings and attacks against civilians. 89% favored sharia law. Currently, 89% of Palestinians support terror attacks on Israel.

“Some 11,000,000 Muslims have been violently killed since 1948, of which 35,000, or 0.3 percent, died during the sixty years of fighting Israel, or just 1 out of every 315 Muslim fatalities. In contrast, over 90 percent of the 11 million who perished were killed by fellow Muslims.”

Oh, he applied for a job at the Faculty, dear. Didn’t meet the criteria, I’m afraid.

Excellent credentials, good references,  but an appalling knowledge of Pakistani critical theory and exegesis.

Between you and me, he may have been a tad over qualified.

Why do you assume that means he is advocating what could be considered mainstream Islamic beliefs?  I am sure plenty of PhDs write theses about extremist viewpoints they personally believe!   Grin Grin Grin Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Grin Grin Grin

I have no idea what a Foucauldian post-structuralist queer theorist is, but your point is still invalid. There have been several prominent historians who have PhD's from reputable universities who deny the holocaust - does that mean we automatically assume they speak the truth of the matter? Of course not - because to do so would be to completely reject the overwhelming majority of scholars who reject the denialist thesis.

Why should islam be any different? The majority of sunni scholars reject Baghdadi's version of islam and his declared caliphate - fact. Baghdadi therefore becomes relegated to the "loony fringe" category, and therefore laughed out of court - just like the holocaust deniers.

ISIL is reportedly trying to alter the Quran to remove passages giving rights to non-muslims. Do you think the majority of muslims would support this - just because it comes from a guy who has "a PhD in Islamic studies from the Islamic university of Baghdad"? You should ask Baron - thats been a favourite theme of his - the fact that muslims will never tolerate the quran being altered because it is the divine word of God.

I wonder whether the people who so upset that IS executed enemy fighters would also be upset about Breaker Morant executing Boer prisoners, the Australian soldiers who massacred villagers in Palestine in WWI or this:

Quote:
Claims Australians executed prisoners in WWI engagement

Thursday 11 September 2014

One hundred years ago today, Australians took part in one of the first engagements of World War One, the Battle of Bitapaka in Papua New Guinea. Now a recently discovered eyewitness account appears to confirm rumours of Australian soldiers executing prisoners there.

New claims have emerged about the execution of German and Papua New Guinean prisoners by Australian servicemen during Australia’s first WWI battle, which occurred on this day 100 years ago.

Six Australians, one German soldier, and 30 Papua New Guinean policemen were officially listed as killed when the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force landed near the town of Rabaul, in what was then German New Guinea on 11 September 1914.

The Australian forces were sent to New Guinea to destroy the German telegraph station at a place called Bitapaka.

For years, there have been rumours of executions by the Australians after the battle of Bitapaka, and now an old tape recording of a witness appears to confirm them.

The eye witness, an elder in the village of Kabakaul, said he saw the Australians come ashore, and he described the execution of two white men and a number of native police.

‘Then a big man of war said “fire” and they all died,’ said the man identified on the tape as Bob, speaking in the Tok Pisin language. ‘They shot all the men who were lined up on one side. Only one boy was alright, a young boy such as this, he ran away. So they all died and the trench they dug was full with dead bodies.’

The recording was made in the 1960s by a plantation owner Ian Purvis, who was living near Rabaul.

His wife Irene found the tapes when she was sorting through boxes after Purvis died.

‘He knew a lot about the history of the place and was interested in all these things and was keen to make some record of it,’ said Mrs Purvis.

‘The man he spoke to he referred to as Old Bob, and of course he was pretty old then, and I'm not sure of his age, but as a young boy he witnessed everything that went on.’

Old Bob, the elder from Kabakaul Village, describes seeing the Australian soldiers come ashore and march towards the German trenches on the Bitapaka Road.

During the battle, a German Sergeant Ritter was captured, but afterwards rallied some local police and resumed the fight, killing one Australian and wounding a number of others.

Official accounts say that Ritter was killed during that fight, but Bob, told Mr Purvis he was executed afterwards, along with the native police.

‘They tricked the German police boys,’ Bob told Ian Purvis in the interview, translated from Tok Pisin. ‘They said “there’s no more war” and asked them to come forward.’

‘The English stood on one side and they stood on the opposite side [with] the two white men that I spoke about before, a police officer and Mr Ritter. The two white men and all the police boys, the English shot them. Their bodies filled the hole; the two white men lay there with them. Later, they took the white men’s bodies to Rabaul, but the police boys remained there.’

Melbourne historian David Howell says he has heard reports that Sergeant Ritter and the police were executed for trying to continue the fight after surrendering.

‘I wasn't aware a second white person being killed by Bond, but that’s not to say it didn't happen. There is still plenty of research to be done on this subject.’

In all, six Australians are listed as being killed in the battle of Bitapaka on the 11th of September 1914: Able Seaman John Courtney, Able Seaman William Williams, Able Seaman Harry Street, Able Seaman Robert Moffatt, Lieutenant Commander Charles Elwell and Captain Brian Pockley. Three days later, on September 14, the Australian submarine AE1 vanished off Rabaul with the loss of all hands.

Officially, one German soldier and 30 native police are listed as being killed in the battle of Bitapaka.

The quran has been altered,Bukhari said the verse on stoning had been revealed and read so where is it,why is it missing from the Quran?

Did the verse on stoning and breastfeeding an adult 10 times end up as sheep manure?
Who gave Uthman authority to make the Quran into a book, divine origins my ass!

Allah says Islam has been perfected in 5/3,if Islam has been perfected as Allah claimed then why do muslims never agree on anything from the niqab to Islamic terror, why do muslims kill each other over disagreements resulting from this religion Allah claims has been perfected.

This day i have perfected for you your religion and completed my favour upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion.

Muslims think Islam is the perfect religion, they must be delusional.

It is true that Islam permits, in some circumstances, executing enemy soldiers, but so too does the Geneva Conventions which the Australian Government is a signatory to.

Islam permits the execution of enemy soldiers when it is convenient.

They were forced out by Muslims. Muhammed himself achieved this in part and directly encouraged the 'final solution'.

Ah, they are fighting for a different bunch of islamic terrorists. I guess that's OK then.

Not necessarily. Those scholars probably reject most of each others' versions of Islam, which would make his merely one of many versions.

I have no idea where these figures are coming from - FD doesn't either, but he'll pretend his magic 100 figure is rock solid. '100' has a certain ring to it you have to admit.

I think you'll find the outgoing head of ASIO's name is David Irvine, not David Irving, Gandalf.   David Irving is the notorious Holocaust Denier.   Roll Eyes

Yes FD, thats exactly what I said  Tongue

Look back at my posts on Syria from about a year back. I was pretty much a lone voice calling for the US and others to stop their support for the rebels in view of the fact that it was mostly going towards Al Nusra - the then dominant islamist terrorist group. Now much of that weaponry is in the hands of an even worse bunch - ISIL.

Most commentators suggest that more support for the more moderate rebels would have made it harder for ISIS, not easier.
