There is nothing illegal about "country shopping".

Multiculturalism at work, innit, different value systems side by side. Rich tapestry and diversity of non-illegal activity.

Detention IS legal. Doing legal things is now demonising while doing illegal/unlawful things is OK?

Detention isn't demonising asylum seekers and, I've never suggested that it isn't legal.

People like you demonise asylum seekers by calling them "illegals".

"Illegal, queue jumping, country shopping, terrorists": this is what demonises them.

You do it in an attempt to justify your irrational fear.

Don't forget the demonising UN....

Article 31 includes the term "illegal entry".

It is used in the context of stating that parties to the convention cannot penalise refugees as a result of their "illegal entry or presence" as long as they present to authorities "without delay" and "show good cause for their illegal entry or presence".

The verdict is in.....

Based on the definition set out in the United Nations people smuggling protocol, people who have come to Australia without a valid visa have illegally entered the country. That is the case even though these people have not committed any crime, nor broken any Australian or international law

If Australia has a problem with these epople it should be dealt with in Australia.
