it's still not that easy ... if they have no ID, which is what the right claims all the time, it falls upon the Australian govt. to prove that the asylum seeker is a citizen of that country before they will let them back in (in most cases) .... do you imagine that the Australian govt. would allow any white guy who claimed to be an Aussie into the country if that person couldn't prove who they were? the same works in reverse

Of those, 240 from mainland detention or community detention left voluntarily, having given up hope of being granted asylum, and 168 were flown home by the government.

A total of 198 asylum seekers from Manus Island and Nauru had also asked authorities to be returned home after realising they would not be settled in Australia."

Every immigrant to Australia is a refugee of some sort. Most of them are economic refugees. All refugees should be accepted.

No such animal as an "economic refugee".

In the case of many of the current group occupying Christmas Is, Manus & Nauru i.e. Iranians, Tamils & Central Asians.......

They are " illegal economic migrants" aka "country shoppers".
