Retiring Liberal senator Sue Boyce has described Prime Minister Tony Abbott as ‘a sexist’

RETIRING Liberal senator Sue Boyce has described Prime Minister Tony Abbott as “a sexist” and says the coalition has been “dog whistling” with its asylum seeker policies. Speaking on her departure from federal parliament at the end of the month, Senator Boyce has told Fairfax Media she thinks Julia Gillard's famous misogyny speech was “powerful” and within context, “brilliant”.

Some of the coalition's older MPs still “yearned for the life when proper mothers stayed home and looked after the children and proper fathers who had their slippers handed to them”, Fairfax quoted her as saying.

Senator Boyce said she was concerned by the government swinging too far to the right, particularly on issues such as asylum seekers, action against climate change and same-sex marriage. “I think the whole asylum seeker issue is sort of fraught with dog whistling,” she said, adding that she did not appreciate the language used by Immigration Minister Scott Morrison, particularly the term “illegal maritime arrivals”.

Monkey HAS to be returned to the zoo and SOON!

Picking on the old, the sick, the young and the powerless and creating a recession because of it cannot be allowed to go on. Australia is the land of the fair go, so why is this fascist/neoconservative regime being defended here?

Rudd and Gillard both never finished a full term in office & Rudd was PM twice in those six years. If there is ever a situation where Abbott gets knifed (not stands down), then he may be considered a less than successful PM. But even then, he won't be up there with Rudd & Gillard as the worst. Keating is well ahead of Abbott as worst and Rudd/Gillard top the list.

$96bn debt, recession we "had to have", called us "arse end of the world" and called Malaysian leader "recalcitrant" to name just a few of his achievements!

Hasn’t been a year yet.

But the Libs are now radical neoconservatives, no longer Liberal in any shape or form. The Budget is going to hurt a lot of people while the 1% will keep on soaking up $150Bn a year in govt largess.

Abbott - 60% disapproval. Only matched by Gillard at her lowest. Unlike Gillard though, Abbott's got to this level despite the media, not because of it. It's all his own doing.

If we're to judge by "worst", we can compare broken promises, proven lies or obvious gaffes. Abbott comes out worse than Rudd and Gillard on all these measures. To assert that Abbott is somehow better is just a biased assessment with no supporting evidence.
