According to recent news polling Tony Abbott is widely considered to be the worst sitting Australian Prime Minister. Many are not surprised by the result considered the recent media backlash over the budget, as well as number of scandals that the government is currently facing.



The polling results were a clear landslide with 100% of respondents indicating Tony Abbott when asked “Who do you think is the worst Prime Minister currently leading the Australian Government”. Many expressed confusion at the question, as there was only a single answer possible however they still answered Tony Abbott.



Many believe that this information is a damning indictment of a government which is completely out of touch with the people. A prominent critic of the government had the following to say



These results are a clear indication that the LNP have no mandate to run the country. At least in the past when we ran these polls some people didn’t even know who was currently the PM. The fact that every single person polled knew the name Tony Abbott tells us that he is upsetting a lot of people.



Others were critical of the fact that the same poll found that Bill Shorten was considered to be the worst current Leader of the Opposition. An online commentator had the following to say



This is completed retarded. The poll isn’t even valid. There is only a single option which could possible be answered and these results are going to be used to malign Mr Shorten. I can understand this sort of thing happening when discussing the PM as we need to do whatever it takes to convince Murdoch readers that he is ruining our country. Also the sampling strategy of the poll was totally invalid. They only used landline telephones during the day, which means they only reached older votes who we know are more likely to support the LNP. I think that if they had conducted this poll properly we would’ve found that people with valid opinions think that Tony Abbott is the worst current Opposition Leader and PM of Australia.



When asked for comment the Office of the Prime Minster has said that Mr Abbott is not concerned with Polling results but that he is confident that once leaving office history will not remember him as the worst current sitting PM.
