Rudd and Gillard both never finished a full term in office & Rudd was PM twice in those six years. If there is ever a situation where Abbott gets knifed (not stands down), then he may be considered a less than successful PM. But even then, he won't be up there with Rudd & Gillard as the worst. Keating is well ahead of Abbott as worst and Rudd/Gillard top the list.
I thought keating was one of our better PM's
I don't think we've had one that I would consider good in my living memory - all have lead this country down the garden path while growing fat on the proceeds of the economic and social death of Australia - sucking deeply on the juices of the dead so to speak.....
The simple fact is that not one of them would have been elected President in a popular election.... that's my yardstick...
Second yardstick is "Would you follow this (insert gender term) into battle?"
So:-
a) Would you elect Tony or Bill President if we had a PopEl tomorrow?
b) Would you follow Tony or Bill into battle tomorrow?
c) (My Wee Johnnie question from way back now) If you saw this (insert gender) standing on the corner of George and Market Streets handing out leaflets that say "We Must Go To War With Iraq!" (etc - insert issue e,g, Julia and "We Must Stamp Out Misogyny!")... would you even stop to consider what they were saying? Or would you just walk on and go about your business, thinking - "Another nutter!".
THAT, my children is the reality of our elected representatives...
Add in any politician's name you like there and get back to me...
