Yes - let's. It is good to see a quote from a real american visitor to our country - one who obviously enjoyed himself and saw the great things this country has to offer.
I have lived and worked in the USA, i am a resident alien and even have a social security number.
He is wrong on a few points.
1.Your employer pays your health insurance in the USA so being covered is not a problem unless you are a lazy bludger.
I dont watch tv for hours so unlikely to see ads.
2.I found Australian Lamb is cheaper in a Boston supermarket than what is costs in coles or woolies here.
I bought a free range Turkey for $12 and it would cost $40+ here for the same thing.
Our fruit and veges are pretty good,if you want a decent coffee in the USA go into an Italian restaurant they know how to make it the Americans have no idea.
3.The Americans have bastardised the english language
4.Our free to air TV is nothing to brag about, who want reality TV i prefer paid actors.
5.I think the small shops in the USA are better than ours, they have more products to choose from and are cheaper.
$25 bucks for Reebok basketball boots and $20 for Tommy Hilfiger jeans, no contest on clothes take an empty suitcase and buy new clothes when you visit.
6.Camping is free in the USA,i prefer luxury.
7.We have religion in politics here,Fred Nile for starters, the atheists are quiter in the USA.
8.American roads are better, did he drive in Sydney or down the south coast past Batemans bay.
Our highways could learn from America, the road going into Disney world is better than anything we have and how old is that.
9.In America they are always American first and whatever else second, in Australia many migrants are wherever their parents came from first and put Australia second.
Since he mentioned Greeks you are only eating a genuine aussie hamburger if you buy it in a hamburger shop or milk bar owned by a Greek.
10.Port Arthur resulted in collective punishment for all law abiding gun owners from the acts of a madman.
We now have a feral pest problem in the country and the best tools for dealing with this problem were taken away.
Our native wildlife is pretty good, the only people allowed to hunt native wildlife are aborigines.
I will go back and work in the USA if our dollar goes below 75 cents, i have job offers and i think it is a great place to live.
Australia is expensive to live in because we are supporting about 21 levels of government with a population of 23 million people.
