Gun ownership has surged 10 per cent in NSW in the past 5 years, with one gun now registered for every nine residents.

And the biggest rises in gun ownership are in some of Sydney's most affluent areas, postcodes that encompass Neutral Bay,Pyrmont and Sydney's CBD, where the number of firearms has climbed by more than 60% since 2010.

Newcastle recorded an 81% increase in the number of people with a firearms licence in the same period.

Alarmingly, in 22 of the states 600 postcodes, registered guns outnumber people.

I had a look at the 22 postcodes where guns outnumber people, they are remote rural areas with large properties and not many people, that sounds like fearmongering from the leftist media.

All gun crimes are down according to ABS stats despite the increase in guns, so much for that myth peddled by the greens that more guns equals more gun crime,we have been seeing gun numbers increasing to record highs while gun crime is at record lows.

It reminds me of a clever quote, one that just so happens to explain the gun-grabbing, anti-gunner Left's conclusions about '
Gun Control
'
to a "T".

Gun control defined: The theory that people who are willing to ignore laws against rape,
torture, kidnapping, theft, murder will obey a law which prohibits them from owning a firearm.

So I guess rape, torture, kidnapping, theft and murder rates in Australia are soaring out of control?

It would be much more effective to focus on idiot control than gun control, but its much easier to control the guns.

Are you trying to say that if the rate of crime & reported incidents are just one (1) less than your cutoff  for "soaring out of control",   then the levels for rape, kidnapping, torture, theft, & murder are fine the way they are, are somehow acceptable?

Sounds like it......if they weren't "soaring out of control", they must be acceptable...right?

Actually, your awkward query has absolutely nothing to do with the quote I posted, but it sounds like it must have hit a nerve for you
to have to deflect away from it!    Wink

No what I am suggesting is that if

Gun control defined: The theory that people who are willing to ignore laws against rape, torture, kidnapping, theft and murder will obey a law which prohibits them from owning a firearm.

were really true, the gun control we have here, would mean that murder rates would be higher than countries with poor gun control.

Again, your awkward argument is just a smokescreen away from the quote I posted.....address the quote, not your smokescreen & dodge routine.

I agree, as the quote suggests, the reasoning in support of 'Gun Control' is false.....

The argument that the gun-grabbing anti-gunners reason with about 'Gun Control' is patently false, criminals will never become honorable, law-abiding citizens, & the only people that these 'Gun Control' laws actually affect are the law-abiding citizen gun owners of Australia, while these laws do absolutely nothing about criminals & crime.

I'd take the opposite view from that and say whilst the laws don't seem to make a difference, that if you look at the US where the murder rates are higher, obviously arming law-abiding citizens doesn't seem to do much either.

I am gun owner.

I live on a rural property, And use them for popping rabbits and the occasional critical veterinary situation ( horses and fences  Cry  )

Having lived through the transition from our earlier looser gun laws (semi autos, pump actions and easier licensing) to our present I can state that I prefer the current laws. Just about anyone can get a gun(if they have a requirement) with minimal cost and effort.

And there are less idiots rocking up at my place asking to burn through a few packs of 7.62 on their funky SKS's(who shoots a water tank, honestly Angry )

From a personal defense point of view owning your own gun is pretty useless, unless a civil war occurs. When someone rocks up and sticks a gun in your face it doesn't matter what guns you own, they are to far away to help you. Karate is much more effective and you don't need a permit.
