So true Lionel.
Folks against gun ownership seem to think that owning a gun means you are compelled to use it. WRONG.

If someone points a gun at someone and says empty the till that is armed robbery even if no shots are fired.

Defensive gun use statistics don't count the incidents where people surrender without a shot being fired, a gun does not have to be fired for self defence if people surrender by pointing it at them.

Even the most hardened criminals surrender without a shot being fired when the police point a gun at them.

I have seen tresspassers surrender to an old lady with a .22lr without a shot being fired.

You assume that guns are the only weapons available to you, Lionel.    Roll Eyes

That's right, Lionel. You have something far mightier: words.

I have an old, registered, Anschutz 222 model 1532, low miles, with a bent barrel (courtesy of a careless mover, back in the day). I can put a Schilling barrel on it for about $250 bucks but I haven't used it for some time. Keep it or lose it?

$250 is cheap for a new barrel, I guess it's next to worthless with a bent barrel.

If you don't use it perhaps selling it is a good idea, might get a bit more sticking a new barrel on it,I  have a Anshutz 1416 no plans to sell that.

Question. What does low miles mean -- in the context of a rifle? Surely there's not an odometer on it?

It would be a low number of shots fired.

The barrel wears out through chemical and heat erosion in the throat, the fact that chamber pressures can be around 60,000 PSI  means chamber prssures are greater than the youngs modulus of the metal in the barrel.

Some guns like the RUM 7mm are only good for around 500-800 rounds before barrel is stuffed.

This guy replaces his .308w after 1500 rounds.

Well I'd like to be an old lady that scares 'someone' off by pointing a gun at them. Remembering that one must always be prepared to follow thru if they don't run.  Smiley
Seems that'll never be an option for me again tho. Sad

Hey now, is that supposed to be an insult to Puerto Ricans? My best bud and his wife are Puerto Ricans, matter of fact they were with us when we met this lady who we all found quite charming.

It must be that Common Core Math that Jeb Bush loves because your comment is still unclear who you intend to insult.

thick as a brick.. are all Texans that dumb.?
Well, if you like the Bush dynasty, how could you argue.
As for Abortion..??  you seem to know all about it. but being a professed male,  YOU CANNOT have a clue. You are entitled your opinion, however stewpid.
You just want to ride rough-shod over anyone who opposes your views.
I actually thought Texans were rugged individuals  Grin
But you are just like everyone else. Self- interested and oblivious to anything outside your comfort zone.

You can't blame YOUR President for racism. That is absurd.
Remember Abraham Lincoln.?
Bet you have  and/or are a KKK fan. YECH.!!!!!!!! Tongue

I am no fan of  the  Bush  Dynasty  or common core. There is so much wrong  with  your  post  I would  have  first guessed  it  was from  my  stalker. Next time you  need  to  defend  yourself  just  hit them with your  broom!

As for Abortion, how many have each of you had? Since  you  both  defend  it you must  feel  the  need  for  access  to  abortion  on  demand.

Wow. Sexism. Great way to change the subject, Mort.

Abortion is a Constitutional Right in America. Did you know that, Mort? Or do you TexUn Christofascist only believe in the Constitution when it suits your crazy lust for guns?

Abortion  on demand  is the  law of  the  land but it is not a constitutional right. Over  sixty million  Americans were never born for the convenience  of the "sex in the city" crowd.
