Funny you should say that, most servicemen would agree with you - that's exactly what bugger*d a lot of them up.

Don't confuse a Butcher for a Cook, Lionel.    Roll Eyes

I don't think I am, Brian.

Did your duties as a cook preclude, or excuse you from your responsibilities and oaths as a member of the Army?

Ergo sum, you wore the butcher's apron.

I had the ECN of a Rifleman, first and foremost, Lionel.  I never fired my rifle in anger.  All I butchered were animals, Lionel.   Roll Eyes

Please do not misunderstand my allusion, but those at My Lai could have said the same thing.

As could countless others who thought they had a protected role in military actions.

What we are discussing here is when push comes to shove and the rights of defense against unwarranted aggression. The choice to die on your feet as opposed to dying on your knees.

Who has the right to limit that choice?

Baron talks from the point of view of the man on the land. He has many useful things to say, but none of it considers it the right of a person to protect THEMSELVES, in their own home.

Come on people.. speak up.

Owning a gun for self defence was outlawed in 1996, this disarmed a lot of older women who wouldn't hurt anyone.

Russia has changed their laws,Russians can now  own guns for self defence.

Russia changed their laws last year.

Thanks for that comment Baron. Most people never face that life and death moment, and really have no idea . Wonder what they would do if it came to the crunch. Hit them with a stick maybe.  Huh Can't imagine any Oz govt allowing the right to real self defense as a right.
Like we are denied freedom of speech , freedom of information and freedom of choice.  Unless, of course the government considers it 'appropriate'.

Hard to believe eh?

Did they?  I can't seem to remember any Butchers (by trade, not inclination) involved in the Pinkville massacre, Lionel...   Roll Eyes

Oh, I knew I had no protected role, Lionel.  I was just a digger in a baggy-green skin carrying a rifle.  I had no delusions that I could and would be used as cannon-fodder if the chips were down.

No one.  However, you, like many pro-gun people assume that it is only possible to resist with a gun, for some strange unfathomable reason.    Roll Eyes

So true Lionel.
Folks against gun ownership seem to think that owning a gun means you are compelled to use it. WRONG.

Oh Please Mr. Bryan don't call me a racist, I'll ignore any injustice if you just don't call me a racist.

I judge every person I meet based on how they act when we meet, not on an accident of birth. I could have looked like them and they could have looked like me and it would make no difference.

I met a woman from New Zealand in Seattle last week and she spoke so poorly of Australians I guessed she must know you!

When you spell my name correctly, Mort, we might be able to discuss something.  Until then, I'll treat you with the contempt that you so richly appear to deserve.    Roll Eyes

Gee whiz Mista Bryan Rose, you're as tetchy as marlan.

Anyone who could watch an unborn child dismembered and pulled from its mothers womb fits the very definition of contemptible!

Self Defense is a natural right of all creatures including people even if your government will persecute you for fighting to survive!

I have an old, registered, Anschutz 222 model 1532, low miles, with a bent barrel (courtesy of a careless mover, back in the day). I can put a Schilling barrel on it for about $250 bucks but I haven't used it for some time. Keep it or lose it?

$250 is cheap for a new barrel, I guess it's next to worthless with a bent barrel.

If you don't use it perhaps selling it is a good idea, might get a bit more sticking a new barrel on it,I  have a Anshutz 1416 no plans to sell that.
