Gee wow, one boat in a matter of weeks. Lets all hit the panic button. No, hang on! That might be a bit hasty. I seem to recall a time when we were getting 2-3 boats a day. Oh yeah, that's right - it was the norm under Labor over the previous 6 years! So Tony hasn't stopped the boats - as he promised during his election Mantra? No one gives a crap about Labor, they are not in government. The Coalition are, and a key cornerstone of their election commitment was to stop the boats. They have obviously failed. When are you Roids going to start holding this pathetic government to account for lies and failed promises? Obviously, you're an idiot. An absolute, breathtakingly stupid imbecile. I don't recall a single one of Abbott's speeches in which he gave a deadline for when he would stop the boats by. That's because he never did. He said he would stop the boats and they are stopping. Since becoming PM, he has overseen a dramatic reduction in the number of boat arrivals in a very short period of time - something Labor was simply incapable of. At its worst, Labor was getting more than one boat a day much of the time, whereas now we are lucky if we see more than 2-3 boats in a week. Have the boats completely stopped? No. Are the boats coming at the same frequency or higher than under Labor? No, not even close. Boat arrivals have reduced by more than 70% in the first 2-3 months of Abbott's term. That's another thing - we're only a few months into Abbott's term, so I think that he is entitled to a bit of time to get his policies working, especially given the blocking of legislation that shows Labor just wants him to fail because for him to succeed would be too embarrassing! Given these FACTS, your absurd and incorrect conclusion that Abbott has failed serves only to demonstrate what a colossal moron you are. Grow up. thanks for the personal abuse - but if you read my post I said that Tony had promised to stop the boats. I merely pointed out that he hasn't. I hope you get a trip to the banned bin Yes, you did. You also said he has failed. If he'd said he would stop the boats by a given date and they had not stopped, then you'd be correct. However, he gave no deadline for stopping the boats, so one can safely assume he expects to stop them before the end of his first term in office. That means he has a lot more time to actually stop the boats. That means you're wrong - he has not failed in this policy. They have slowed dramatically, however, much to your obvious disgust. You won't be happy until they're arriving at 2-3 boats a day and thousands of people are dying at sea again, as was the case under Labor. It irks you greatly that Abbott is succeeding where Rudd/Gillard failed spectacularly. That's simply disgraceful, even for you. No, I just don't like the ability Tony seems to have to fool most of his followers. He hasn't stopped the boats, he and his ministers have backflipped on just about every decision they have made, Bishop and Abbott have made us look fools on the world stage, but you Roids hang in there hoping they will improve - well, sorry, they won't BTW your immature and thoughtless comments about people dying at sea are disgraceful and a childish attempt at political point scoring. The almost gleeful attitude of some of the right on here using deaths of people to make a cheap point shows their shallowness. Labor and the Greens did play a massive part in those deaths at sea. They wouldn't of happened if they didn't start people smuggling up again. Labor and the Greens did play a massive part in those deaths at sea. They wouldn't of happened if they didn't start people smuggling up again. So, the installation of the Coalition Government has solved the problem? Noting the last months of the Rudd govenment basically reinstated Howard's policies (with the exception of TPVs) why are the Coalition EXPANDING the detention centres at Nauru and Manus? Isn't Operation Soveriegn borders supposed to negate this need? Why is Abbott allowing our ACPBs to enter Indonesian waters to rescue people? According to the right on here, they should be just left to drown It all boils down to the fact that when in Opposition, you can make all the promises you want and the gullible will vote for you. Once in Government though, it is a different story. Many of the rusted on right on here still believe the Coalition is doing a great job - one day, I am sure they will wake up very dissapointed.
