And because I know that reading from the DSM might be too comprehensively challenging for some I will point out one very obvious thing from the literature.....

This diagnosis is somewhat uncertain and, whilst still listed in the DSM it is openly acknowledged that there is not wide spread support for this syndrome presently in the community (psychology community). However, the DSM also lists illnesses (or potential syndromes) in order to compile and review existing knowledge, sort of like a peer review set up.

I think that might give weight to why the claim did not proceed.

a website full of plagiarised articles and images. Hope you got a good lawyer.

Bullshit - those views are all my own..  get a life and try it for yourself instead of tossing negatives at your betters, and try discussing the issues raised instead of drifting off into Suburbialand yob backchat.

He who has nothing positive to add to the discussion has nothing to add.

Ah typical, the usual suspects judging a person without knowing anything about them.  Guess what, a psychologist, someone more than likely with a masters degree, diagnosed this person with a legitimate mental disorder.  Compensation or not compensation, stop your stupid generalizations.  Sitting on the shitter does not qualify you for anything.

as a psychologist they would have a minimum of a masters degree.  but that doesn't make them infallible nor unable to be conned or be gullible. 'adjustment disorder' can be severe but at the same time it can also be trivial such as in this case.  there is a problem with trying to label an diagnose ever stress or problem we face and call it a 'disorder' when it often is no such thing. The shrink was a jerk and COmcare surprisingly good.

I just find it funny how psychologists moralise things. They hold up an ideal of what is the perfect human then begin their disorder labelling whenever someone diverts from the ideal. This list of disorders can be endless because rarely people live up to the ideals psychologists hold.

you are spot-on.  the definition of 'disorder' is anything off the normal balance which includes pretty much everything which is why I hate using the term unless it leads to debilitating nonsense.

Grappler book 1 excerpt:-

(quotes a few simple realities in own life)...

"and so on and so on and so on - the instant response of these trick cyclists was to simply dismiss these statements without any thought or consideration and with no factual basis for their position.  From this point, they then moved on to a position of behaving as if I were delusional  - that somehow, in some pipe smoked opium dream, the one they seem to share with each other, I was making all this fact up out of thin air!

I honestly don't know what life experience these trick cyclists have had, or what circles they move in and expect all the rest of us to move in, what dark coffin they grew up in, or what miserable hardscrabble peasant world they imagine we all inhabit outside their fairy kingdom, and what sort of under-life they expect all Diggers to occupy; but their life experience, personal contacts, and knowledge of the world can't be much!  I would like to offer you the view of a well-known Korean Vet, who said of trick cyclists that they were all the same, all had tweed jackets with leather patches on the elbows, and not one of them wasn't taking their money under false pretences."

An expert opinion must be supported by fact.. Australian Supreme Court... many times over...

What an 'expert opinion' may NOT do is function exclusively from a personal opinion...  that is the failure of these head shop specialists...

Would't trust one as far as I could throw them...

Look up the DSM sometime mate.

This is the guide that those "head shop specialists" use, kind of like a compendium of recognised "syndromes" etc. The head shop guide book as it were. Thus it is not operating on personal opinion (alone at least...)

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2710332/

The opinion of experts supported by the opinion of experts and, then formalised into a list with a government stamp - them's good credentials, there, bro.

Some o' them gu'mint shrinks reckon I'm totally sane - now that oughta tell you the quality of their 'crazy sauce'.... must have an adjustment disorder somewhere there......

just read it...   the woman was just a malcontent lazy underperforming drongo trying to milk the system.  in any other company she would have been sacked.  these are the types of people Abbott needs to get rid of.  Unfortunately we all know that these are they type that stay forever because they couldn't survive in a job anywhere else that required them to ... work.

Yep, I am sure there are elements of the "article" that will have some weight too. Of course, that also depends just a bit on how accurately and (more importantly) thoroughly the story is being reported.

In short, it would seem from the article that this person had an awful lot going on in their life (well for them at least) and was not making great decisions in managing herself (behaviour).

I would suggest that it might be very appropriate from a WHS perspective to thoroughly review supervision practices and processes on the job, given that some of this woman's stuff, from the article at least, appears to be a bit entrenched - a reasonable person must wonder how this (for example substance abuse) flew under the radar....

work is not there to pick up the pieces of a persons life.  it is not there to pander to their emotional weaknesses not deal with their addictions.  work is actually there for... WORK

LOL, Bullsh!t, every single one of those artricles is plagiarised, nothing original on that site at all. Because you are lying about this instead of admitting it when I get the time I will go back and post a few of them with the original source quoted.

once again I see someone decides to judge without knowing full facts.  Yes...the pschologist is the one being conned and is the jerk, but longie is correct in his assumptions after reading a half arsed article that releases very little in terms of information about the person's actual state of condition.
