What is your opinion of Mona Eltahawy, is she more your style?

Quote:
When an article in the Egyptian criminal code says that if a woman has been beaten by her husband 'with good intentions" no punitive damages can be obtained,Then to hell with political correctness

When more than 90% of ever married women in Egypt- including my mother and all but one of her 6 sisters- had their genitals cut in the name of modesty then surely we must all blaspheme.

When Egyptian women are subjected to virginity tests for merely speaking out, its no time for silence.

More here-www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2012/04/23/why_do_they_hate_us

Its worth clicking on just for the pictures.

Leftists and the Ayatollahs have a lot in common when it comes to criticism of Islam, they don't tolerate it.

Yes. Then you can tell us where he's gone wrong. Until then you are just flailing your arms.

Why? I already know what he says - that feminists self-censor when it comes to islam's barbaric treatment of women - because they are terrified of being labelled racist.

Wow - such an original meme, I totally haven't heard that a billion times already.  Roll Eyes

And so it remains true, despite being repeated a billion times.
Why? Because the bed-wetting, wishy-washy, beardy-nerdy - sorry, the moderate  - Muslims like you do nothing to signal to the sisterhood that even though they are not Muslims, they have a valid criticism of Islam's misogyny and that it is safe for them to be critical of your religion despite what all the imams and scholars and assorted other authorities of Islam say.

And you will not signal to them because their being women and non-Muslims (which one is worse?), you would rather die like a pretzel, knotted and twisted, than say that you side with them against the doctrines and BS of your imams and scholars who oppose them.

Your choice is between Islam and modernity. This is as good an example of the torment and the paralysis you face as any.

With buggers like you in it, it is a laff-a-minute world, PB.

Gandalf did admit once that Islam had major problems. I don't think that abuse and commodification of women was one of them. For some reason he went all silent on me when I tried to get him to elaborate.

Yes, several. Most importantly, Jesus was on about the kingdom of the spirit, the god within. Not at all about the material possessions and worldly powers.
Priapic Mohamemed was all about power on earth and putting his end away.
