herbert is right, on all points regarding the Hijab. It nneds to be said that the majority of the worlds Muslim women do not wear and are not forced to wear the Hijab. It is a cultural habit and not a religious one. It is simply a sign of subservience to males. Allowing this is backwards step. These people will never be inclusive within our society and they are also teaching thier children not to be so.
Do we care what other people wear? Of course we do, in Western scoiety we have an innate cultural distrust of people who cover their faces and rightly so. 90 percent of all coimmunication is non verbal. With a  persons face covered it is simply impossible to communicate on any sophisticated level, while this may be ok in the Middle east where women are owned by men as simple chattels it is not ok in our society. If you think it is ok then you are simply nuts.

So nuns have a choice? In australia since the pope said not to wear them they dont but in other parts of the world they still have to wear them. I dont remember anyone distrusting a nun back when they still wore them though. Helmets and sunglasses cover your face. Hoods in colder places and balaclavas. Nobody says they shouldn't be worn in the streets. You ppl are just looking for excuses to keep victimising these ppl because they seem like a soft target (dressing differently and all).

I excuse all those Muslim toddlers, girls, women and wives who wear a hijab in order to avoid the displeasure of their families and husbands.

I can understand the intimidation they must feel, and their need to feel loved and accepted by their families.

Herbert's Helpful Hint: Nuns have no relevance in this discussion. They are professionals in the teaching and caring vocations. They are not civilians in the same way as are Muslim women.

It's been nice chatting with you, SOB, but there's hardly any point in my continuing when it's obvious you haven't made any attempt to acknowledge that some of what I have been saying might be true.

Have a Nice Day.

Thats because none of what you are saying is true. You are still trying to demonise them.

Nuns do have a place in this discussion because they also wear burkas but arent demonised like muslim women.

Yes, you fvckn looney. Nobody is born a nun, you phosphorescent bloody idiot. They CHOOSE to become nuns.

And if they decide to leave the nunnery, their brothers will not throw acid in their faces and their dads will not kill them.

6. ... It acting as a billboard to warn 50% of the population that these girls are preserved exclusively for marriage with Muslim men.

As opposed to the nuns habit of serving as a billboard that they are also unavailable

Nuns belong to Religious Orders. Theirs is a life-long vocation in various Sisterhoods that practice abstinence from 'Worldly Pleasures' and a frugal existence of service to others.

In contrast, we have the rank-and-file ordinary Muslim woman flattering herself as being piously 'modest and virtuous' and yet who lives for herself and sleeps with her man for carnal pleasure and self-indulgence.

The hijab is an outrageous moral conceit.

Seriously? Your problem with how ppl dress is your judgement on their motives for how they dress? Nuns think they are pious etc - they think they are married to a fairy in the sky. they think they are better than everyone else because they dont have sex (@ least they arent supposed to).

SOB

You don't have sex and you think you are a bigger, better, Borgier looney than anyone around.
SO you must be a nun.

Why do people give this amoeba oxygen, give it a wide berth, only then will it have to return to its primordial soup.

I beg to differ, old chap. Being a nun is a calling. Gud chooses.

Besides, I knew this bird who was a nun from the day she was born. Frigid as.
