Simplified, what's your citizenship? If you are a citizen of China, you are a Chinese. If you are a citizen of Australia, you are an Australian.

When I said, I am an Chinese Australian, "Chinese" represent my race here. Don't you understand?

If I went to China, what would I be?

I am australian.  So you're saying that if I moved to china, I'd be chinese?

But if you get to be a chinese australian here, why can't I be an australian chinese there?

The core is changing every year depending on the new migrants. When the new migrants are Jews, Greeks, Italian, Chinese, Muslims, Indian, more and more culture join the Australian culture. The core is changed too.

40 years ago, "White Australia Policy" maybe a part of the core, but now, most of people in this world know it's a shame of Australia. Instead, Multiculturalism is the important part of the core now.

No, my real meaning is while Aboriginals are Australian, and Aboriginals has their own culture. Aboriginal culture is a part of Australian culture.

A very simple question, please answer me.

Do you think Aboriginals are Australian?

Of course. But I think the question you really mean to ask is; is australia aboriginal? In which case the answer is no.

Sure, it is contained within australias total cultural output.  But then, so is every kind of sub culture - hippy, goth, paedophile, chinese etc.  When we refer to a particular culture, we don't define it by it's fringe elements, we define it by it's core.

What's your race? At least you are an European. Then you are an European Chinese. Just like you can call me Asian Australian if you don't know I am a Chinese or an Japanese.

And why not you are Chinese if you are a citizen of China?

I never said the core of Australian culture is Chinese culture only. And I never expect to use Chinese culture to replace Australian culture.

However, with more and more Chinese come to Australia as citizen, more characters of Chinese culture will become part of the core. It's the process of culture evolving.

I am not hurry to change Australian culture. I just want to keep the good part of my own culture. And I do not refuse to learn from other cultures.

For example, I only expect the other Australian respect my rights to speak Chinese, eat Chinese food, watch Chinese TV, celebrate Chinese New Year..., etc. in public.

I know a country where you can do all those things already. No need to bring it to Australia as well.

This is my expectation in Australia. I decided to be an Australian when I made the deal with the government of Australia, no matter what you think.

Both you and me have the rights to live in Australia. I don't care you speak English, eat western food, watch English TV and celebrate Christmas. So I do not need to leave. However, if you can not live with me as your neighbor when I speak Chinese, eat Chinese food, watch Chinese TV and celebrate Chinese New Year, you can leave Australia to find a country that people only speak English, eat western food...blabla
