No pork products?

Want to visit the UAE, on its airline Emirates or partner airline Qantas?
...then with no pork products you must put up.

Set foot in the UAE?
Not I, never ever.

UAE is not compatible with my culture and beliefs.
'strict Islamic rules'...are not for me.

TWO Britons who made world headlines after being arrested for having sex on a beach in Dubai and offending local Muslim customs have now been jailed.
The Britons were sentenced to three months in prison and ordered their subsequent deportation after they were convicted of having sex on the beach.

Michelle Palmer, a 37-year-old publishing executive in Dubai who has been sacked from her job, and Vince Acors, a 34-year-old visitor to the emirate, were found guilty of having sex in a public place in the early hours of July 5 after drinking heavily.
...but the city state still adheres to certain strict Islamic rules.

A British woman and Irish man accused of engaging in sexual activities in a Dubai taxi have been sentenced to three months in prison and then deportation, their lawyer says.

The case is the latest in which Westerners have fallen foul of the United Arab Emirates' decency laws, highlighting cultural differences as the UAE seeks a balance between maintaining its Muslim identity and catering for a vibrant tourism industry.

Rebecca Blake and Conor McRedmond both denied charges of "breach of honour with consent" and committing "an indecent act in a taxi" when they appeared in court last month. They also pleaded guilty to a third charge related to consumption of alcohol in public.

Woman to sue Government over alleged Dubai rape

A Brisbane woman who was jailed in Dubai for adultery after she was allegedly drugged and raped plans to sue the Australian Government.

Alicia Gali, 29, claims she was drugged and sexually assaulted by four co-workers at Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort in the United Arab Emirates in June 2008.

She has already been granted leave to sue the resort and will tomorrow seek leave to sue the Commonwealth in the Brisbane Supreme Court.

Ms Gali claims she contacted an Australian consular official for advice over whether to report the incident or go to hospital.

She claims the officer warned her she could face a life sentence if drugs were found in her system, but did not tell her a complaint of rape could see her charged for adultery.

Ms Gali spent eight months in prison over the incident because it is illegal to have sex outside of marriage in the United Arab Emirates.

She was pardoned and released in March 2009, and her lawyer claims she still suffers severe post traumatic stress disorder, nightmares, flash backs, depression and claustrophobia.

#####

The prison was horrible, terror, hell, a Westerner's worst nightmare.

http://www.couriermail.com.au/travel/news/queensland-woman-tells-of-her-jail-hel...

Warning other women against going to the UAE, Ms Gali said she endured eight months in a crowded prison room with up to 30 other women after she complained to authorities of being raped. i

I didn't even know that pork was part of our culture.

My advice:

If you can't go a week without a vodka cruiser.....stay home and watch the footy, in your thongs and rugby shorts of course.

Pork is derived fom an animal, namely a pig, vodka is derived from a vegetable primarily, potatoes.

While both start with the letter P, they very different things.

Pigs have been part of civilisation for thousand of years. The earliest records of pigs are in paintings in caves in Europe that date back from more than 20 000 years ago. The very first pigs in Australia were brought with the First Fleet in 1788 and in that same year there were forty-nine pigs in the colony. There is no evidence that there were pigs in Australia before white men arrived.

Perhaps they will let you beat up your wives and children during the flight. Maybe we can have candle stick bowling balls pass through the x-ray scanners without a second thought, too.
