given that I dont find church a burden or boring but instead the opposite, I get all the benefits in this life PLUS the next. and even if there were no afterlife, I still get the benefits accruing in THIS life.

its a win-win situation really.

Not really since you have the bearing false witness to keep you out of your heaven.

Pascals wager is stupid. How can you believe something you dont believe? its not a choice. If you dont believe in leprechauns how do you make yourself believe in them?

This is why you are recognised as the dumbest fooking moron within millions of light years. You are so stupid, it is just fascinating. Ordinary morons have a sense of self-reflection and they at least check first before they utter.
Not you.
Stupidity seizes you and you utter. No checks, no balances, no glancing around.
You blurt, no matter how fooking stupid the idea is that has struck you. And they strike you once a minute.

It doesn't mean a great deal to the 'Christians' on this forum.

If they really, truly believed in heaven and hell, they'd be scared enough to treat God's children like they'd treat Jesus if he were to sign on.

The real Christians who follow the bible to the nth degree are out doing God's work, not cussing at non-Christians and Muslims.

If they really believed the bible stuff, they'd be scared enough to put in a decent effort, these dudes don't even try to act nice, let alone Christ-like.

If they honestly believed they are going to spend all eternity (that's a loooong time) burning in hell, screaming to be freed, in absolute agony watching other people having an absolutely divine existence across the way, they'd be nice. That's not a cool image, they make hell sound very hellish in the bible, the greatest torture one can imagine forever and ever.

I can't think of one so-called Christian on this forum, that would be excused from hell, they're not nice to Gods children, that alone strikes their names off the heaven list, if we are going buy the bible readings, of course.

But then again, there's that all important clause that says "repent and ask for forgiveness" and it's straight up to heaven you go.

It means nothing to be a Christian because they are exactly the same as non-Christians, they just think they're superior.

I am sorry that you feel that way. I cannot remember being nasty to anyone here - even though I have not agreed with them. In fact I found the opposite as some have been name calling to me (at least).

All I can say is that Christians are not perfect - just forgiven. Do you know Him who forgives? I trust that you will.

Oh? Poor damien. Who called you names and what did they call you?

Is that the one who sends the goodies to hell, but lets the baddies get into heaven? I don't like his style, at all.

That's a new one to me. Can you elaborate?

That's easy - when you get to the gates of heaven.
You knock on the door & St Peter answers.

If you've been good he opens the door with his key.
If you've been bad he pulls a lever & a trap door opens whereby
you fall down a hole & go straight to hell.

and there are approximately one billion muslims who say you are going to hell  ! They also believe the odds are in their favour as well. Seems like pascals wager doesn't only work for christians Wink

And you go to church simply because you are motivated by greed and fear as well as self delusion. The church uses all three human motivators to manipulate gullible people such as yourself to part with material wealth.

If Jesus is correct [and i believe that he is      Wink   ], numbers, in belief, or religion, is no recommendation - of any merit.

According to Jesus, the vast majority of mankind won't make it into God's kingdom.

The vast majority of mankind are way too clever to believe [in the worth of God's righteousness] !     Wink       Cheesy

Matthew 7:13
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14  Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

2 Thessalonians 2:11
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12  That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Wink

God is clever.

Men are dumb.

God is clever.

God has devised a way, for the wicked [spirits, locked in clay temples] to sort themselves [by their choices], into the 'wicked basket'.

The tares and the wheat....

Matthew 13:30
Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Hi Yadda,
Yes but you came back with:

Quote:
The guy did not expose one ounce of discernment.

The guy made a careful analysis with quotes & proved his point.
You have just cherry picked some single passage & ignored what he said.

Go & watch it again & give an intellectual rebuttal if you can based on each point.

Start with one point:
e.g. you have to sell everything.

bobby,

I already did.

I noted the points at 6m 44s, and rebutted all of them [to myself, to my own satisfaction].

But if those 8 points hold any credibility with you, then that is your choice,
....it is your choice to give them your personal 'intellectual' credibility.

I do not.

bobby,

Believe whatever you want to believe.

That is what this game is about.

It is not a matter of whether it holds credibility with a particular person it is a matter of whether it holds credibility at all which obviously it doesn't !!
