Actually some have been saying that they have no belief - good to see that you don't agree with that.

I guess we must differentiate between belief and "clue". Spot definitely has a belief.

They are not the only non-Christians to like Christmas. THey celebrate it all over the globe, including such places as Dubai and Singapore.

Good to see a BAC on here. I'm a religious naturalist myself.

Now, atheists don't believe in God(s). Can't we just leave it at that and move on to something more interesting?

Maybe because it's a Pagan celebration that the Christians adopted for some strange reason, who knows???? It's more of a tradition than anything else for the non-religious folk. Any excuse for a holiday and a spendathon, I suppose.

nor does it really matter. It is a simple statement of logic that in the absence of compelling proof, the acceptance of any hypothesis is a leap of faith ie a belief. since the existence of God cannot be proven beyond reasonable doubt using the observaable methodology then the answer to the question "Do you believe there is a God?" is always a statement of belief.

ANd so since the non-existence of god cannot be proven beyond reasonable doubt using the observational methodology either, the answer to the question "Do you believe there is a God?" is always a statement of belief.

Whether in the affirmative OR the negative or none of the above. The answer, in other words, is always based on a set of beliefs, formulated on the basis of observation.
Since observation is never, ever, the observation of everything, the belief is always based on selective evidence gathering.
SO atheism, in any of its permutations, IS a set of beliefs.

No its not. Perhaps for some but others its not. Lil children who have never heard of your god - they dont believe anything about your god. In fact most ppl in the world just dont have a belief about your god.

For you, SOB, a lack of mental activity is a permanent state of mind. You are hammering this stupid nonsense about 'lack of belief' as if atheism was a hole in your mental tapestry where other people have some belief.

You have many such holes in your mental tapestry and other people's minds being invisible, you believe that all minds are full of holes and are greatly lacking like yours. This itself is a dirty big hole in your mind, a lack where other people have self-reflection and insight.

Obviously you have nothing to contribute other than abuse

Go away troll

SOB

I have just fooking diagnosed you!! What more do you want by way of contribution?? I can't fooking cure you.  There is no cure for what you are having, Nicola.

You are what you are, to coin a phrase. The best you can hope for is being documented and studied. And when the time comes, a post mortem and a few decades in a jar of formaldehyde.
For the benefit of future generation.

Enjoy your suspension troll

Again with the atheists. Some atheists love xmas. Some just tolerate it. Some just ignore it. Some have never even heard of it (yeah you see there are other countries than australia and america in the world). It has nothing to do with a lack of belief in a deity.

Christmas is about Christ for a few, but for most it's a tradition that's carried on over the years. It's morphed from a happy seasonal event into a huge consumerist occasion, where the participants compete to see who can spend the most.

The season ends with everyone saying "I'm glad that's over for another year", like it was some terrible trial they had to endure.
