Holy Carp! Comet ISON is no longer a hyperbolic (one-time fly-by) comet! NASA now says it has a 400,000 year orbit!

Since the first reliable orbital data was available, NASA-JPL has been saying Comet ISO was a hyperbolic comet, i.e. a probable one-time visitor to the solar system, due to leave and never return. The last automatic calculation on Thursday (designated as done by "Otto Matic") maintained this finding. Notice that at the top there is the notation "Hyperbolic Comet", the "a" value is negative, and the period is "n/a":

But on Friday, a completely new set of parameters was issued, not automatic by produced by one Alan B. Chamberlin. Gone is the word "Hyperbolic", the "a" value is now positive, and there is an orbital period listed as 400864.54 years. Moreover, even though the "last obs. used" is dated one day earlier, the there are 125 more observation being used. This puts the closest approach about 2200 miles closer to the Sun. This is only a change of less than 0.3%, from 726,298 miles to 724,090 miles, but still, it is very odd for it to crop up this late in the game:

http://www.youtube.com/thornews WARNING: I had extra fun with this one. Ok. We're taking a look at Comet c/2012 s1 ISON on NASA's fleet of Cameras. We've got the Secchi the STEREO HI-1 & 2 Cameras. We've got Encke & ISON in a duet. Comets c/2012 s1 ISON, c/2013 R1 LOVEJOY, c/2012 X1 LINEAR & 2P ENCKE playing the 4 tops with the Sun as their audience. ISON looks large & quick. Venus has a wonderful off camera comet like ignition? Usually when Venus does this it is a triangle like Coma, but this time. It's big and bright. Jupiter. Mercury.

All these hours leading up to perihelion should be fascinating! Within 24 hours we will know a lot more about ISON's nucleus
coma tail tails ion tail dust tail and anti tail. That is exciting! And then once she comes around the Mountain of Sol and
survives Sungrazing we will get a much better idea about her orbit path and trajectory. These are wonderful times, indeed!
No. We still don't believe that ISON is Nibiru and will impact Earth causing another mass extinction. We are hoping and praying
for a magic celestial event that leaves everyone in shock and awe under a Heavenly
sight. I do pray ISON really becomes the comet of the Century.
