Correction, it's only a crime for Muslims at the moment.

You have been listening to Spot too much Abu. Just because he says it 100 times does not mean he knows what he is talking about.

Quote:
When a government begins asking for special emergency powers to deal with a minority that it's demonised

So the government tricked 400 Muslims into marching behind the beheading posters?

Quote:
Sad thing is this has all been seen before, yet still most are none the wiser.

I don't recall ever seeing 400 people march through Sydney calling for murder.

You also missed this Abu:

freediver wrote on Sep 21st, 2012 at 8:22am:
Quote:
It is inappropriate to display such signs in a country with a legal system that does not implement capital punishment, and which considers such punishment to be unjust.

Would it be appropriate in places like the US that do have capital punishment and consider it just?

Was there anything inappropriate about the reference to blasphemy, or was it only the reference to the punishment that was inappropriate?

Quote:
There's just simply no need for such signs, as the ones carrying them do not live under an Islamic system, and therefore even speaking about Islamic punishments is just nonsensical.

You speak about Islamic punishments here quite often. Do you make sense?

Quote:
The debate, in reality, is about peddling xenophobic garbage in order to justify the government's actions here and abroad.

So it has nothing to do with freedom of speech and blasphemy? It has nothing to do with that video that insulted Muhammed? Were the Muslims just pretending to be upset about that?

Never having been indoctrinated in any particular religion I am free to observe the actions of religious.

Same here.

Grin Did you wake up one morning and discover yourself to be a Muslim?

Quote:
This is correct, Jesus (pbuh) is one in a long line of prophets, which finally culminated in the prophethood of Muhammad (pbuh). All of them taught the one same message of pure belief in the one God.

Muhammed added a fair bit of raping and pillaging.

Quote:
All writing is in effect codification of speech, so it is no more disrespectful than any writing is. I know what I mean, and that's what's important.

Abu does not like to consider his audience. Or rather, he does - the more confused the better. Or maybe he is only posting here to read for himself.

travellers used to be expected to fit in with the laws and customs of wherever they were travelling. each commune had its well-established norms. everyone knew what they were. it is an abuse of hospitality to enter a commune and then trample on its laws and customs.

what would happen if hundreds of atheists marched through mecca or teheran demanding that their atheism be respect by the muslims? would the muslms say then what they are saying now? that the police should keep away? that people should respect atheists? that atheists have been marginalised and oppressed in saudi and iran for too long?
of course not.

Australia is not an Anglo land, Anglos have invaded this land and have trampled all over the people whose "commune" it actually is. So this kind of empty rhetoric doesn't really get you very far. An Anglo has no more of a right here than a Lebo, Turk or Eskimo.

it is an anglo land as australia. not as gondawinda but as australia. it is certainly not a lebanese or turkish land. their contribution, compared to the anglo contribution, is negligible. australia is evidently an anglo-made country. there's the language, the customs, the laws, the political system, the education system, the shared literature, art, music, and so on. it is baseless to assert that these count for no more than kebab shops or the occasional lebanese mosque or even the famed afghan camel drivers.
migrants come here, want to come here because it is an anglo-made country. if they wanted a lebanese or turk-made country they would be taking their asylum boats to turkey or lebanon. but they aren't.

I was there Emma. I left my bijou residence in Parramatta and took a flight to Victoria in order to be there. I had signs that read "Muslims are filth" and "behead all Muslims". I wish I knew what the signs meant. I found the signs on the road a just held them up. I'm a 28-year-old, university-educated person from Jordan but I had no idea what the signs meant.

Does that sound plausible? Grin Grin Grin Smiley Wink

i am not sure whether you are talking to me or not but if yes - have you seen the australian flag in the last couple of decades? it has this thing the corner called 'union jack'. have you ever wondered why that is? could it be the sign of a historical truth? you should look into it.

i think it is really silly to deny that australia is a british-made country, like canada, new zealand, even the united states. just really silly. and there is nothing moronic about recognising this. quite reverse.

I'm not clear on your point here Bertram.

Look at NZ, the US, Canada, ...the New World. Sure we were all established by Great Britain....the United Kingdom... I've always understood that.

Look at us now.  We, NZ, Canada, the US all take our own paths, and  that's as it should be.

Personally? I think we need a new flag. One that reflects our nation, as a sovereign (if you want to put it that way) nation.

So you would force everyone in the world who needs an Australian flag to buy a new one because you dont like the one we have?

Why would you inflict that upon people all over the world are you a selfish self centrered leftist?

What about all those people in the North of France who fly the Australian flag, should they have to buy a new one because you dont like it?

Pakistan had over 20 people killed from this video with riots from muslims, what did Pakistan have to do with this video apart from being outraged?

Quote:
Reports say at least 20 people have died as demonstrations against an anti Islam video erupted across Pakistan.

The crowd also burned six cinemas, two banks, a KFC and five police vehicles.

It may be more appropriate in the U.S, dunno. Are we in the U.S? Are you able to keep the conversation relevant? Or is it always an uphill battle with you, just trying to keep things within sane boundaries?

Do you realise you don't actually win debates fd, people just tire of listening to your tripe?

I never spoke about Islamic punishments ever here. You are the one who spends an unnatural amount of your time trying to ignite conversations about them. Perhaps you confused your pesky questioning (and my constant tiring of it) with a two way dialogue?

Again... not really following.

No raping and pillaging in Islam at all. If you're referring to war booty and concubines, then perhaps you've never actually read the Bible? Pretty much every single head of state prophet in the Bible took such things. Muhammad (pbuh) would actually be one of those who refrained most from said things, when all prophets are compared.

My guess is though you have neither read the Qur'an nor the Bible. You've merely glanced over a few cherry picked quotes from each, that you feel suit your arguments.

You are just being ridiculous, aren't you?

Nothing will change what Australians have contributed to the Great Wars.
Nor the current Wars.

So why does Allah need 20% of all war booty abu, can you spin that for us ?

Quote:
And know that anything you obtain of war booty-, then indeed, for Allah is one fifth of it.

http://quran.com/8/41

So why does Allah allow muslims to steal from non muslims Abu?

As for concubines do you approve of they way Mohammad (pbuh) captured those jewish women Juwariya and Safiyya after attacking their tribes?

Do you expect a rational person to believe Juwariya and Safiyya consented to marry Mohammad on the very same day that muslims killed their husbands?

Is there a verse in the bible where god says 20% of all war booty belongs to god?

"Leftists" are generally progressive.

Many see removing the Union Jack from Australia's flag as part of the nation's natural progression.

Those on the right, however, are generally conservative.  Thus, they prefer to retain traditional symbols.

It's pretty basic stuff.

Nah, I'm not forcing anyone to do anything.

I'm not even asking them.

I was merely explaining to you why it is "only leftists who want to change the flag".

As far as I'm concerned they can burn the current lot and don't even worry about buying new ones.  Or, they can keep the current one and hang it on every lamp post.  Do what you want.

I'm sure there are less important things in the world than changing the flag, but I can't really think of any right now.
