A 200 per cent increase to the price of an air-conditioning refrigerant since the introduction of the Labor Party’s Carbon Tax has shocked Western Australian company WA Auto Electrics Pty Ltd.

Senator Alan Eggleston said he was contacted by one of the company’s directors about this gross example of how the Carbon Tax is harming Australian businesses.

The increase to the R134A Plus 12kg cylinder refrigerant price – a product used in every air-conditioner, refrigerator and car throughout Australia – from $310 last month to $930 this month, will impact households across the country along with our major industries.

“Mr Whiteley will have no choice but to pass this increase onto his customers in what is set to become a toxic cycle,” Senator Eggleston said.

“For Julia Gillard to claim that only the nation’s biggest polluters would be affected by the tax shows how ill-informed the Prime Minister really is.

“Just this one product increase will have a domino effect on other industries including mining and manufacturing which require large amounts of the refrigerant for daily operations.”

WA Auto Electrics director Richard Whiteley said after much investigation and discussion he found that the increase was due to a ‘Carbon Tax levy’ of $40/kg plus fees imposed on the wholesale supplier.

“This increase is actually more expensive than my previous purchase price of $25.83/kg,” Mr Whiteley said.

It's not a carbon tax. It's a carbon DIOXIDE tax.

So how much carbon dioxide is there in air-conditioning refrigerant gas or are you being a dickhead as well

You can't tax carbon. What Gillard is taxing is carbon dioxide emissions. Is that too simple even for a numbnut like yourself to understand?

greenhouse gases mate  Shocked Shocked

*Sure....they're anti competitive as any subsidised job is.  It wouldn't be there without the tax payer.  Very damned difficult for a brainwashed collectivist to understand that I know....  (swaggy) *
