The health system was stuffed by Whitlam and it has got progressively worse.
If you want quality you have to pay for it.
Generations have now grown up and been indoctrinated into thinking that other people should pay for thier heath expenses. No wonder it's stuffed.
You are correct in one way that NO party has the balls to change this and make people pay because the majority that don't pay control the so called representative Houses of State & Federal governments.
Why would people vote to pay more when they can extort the unrepresented?
I go back a long way and remember the free health system they brought in back in England.. and yes everything was free.. until the found out the advantage people took of the word free.
some had twenty pairs of glasses six sets of false teeth..it was murder..its a shame because that how the system should be FREE...but thats what happens..
and so gradually they brought it in that you pay and I agree with that.
I dont care if its $5 $10 $15 but everyone should pay when they go to emergency. or anywhere else that requires the govt to pick up the tab...
why should our emergency dept be full up with drunks and addicts who can afford very expensive recreational habits.. yet cant cough up for medical attention..
if its for children well they should be exempt I agree,
but adults.. no way.
