Split turns bitter as billionaire's son publicly hits out at wife after affair with rapper

The son of the billionaire financier Sir James Goldsmith has accused his estranged wife of caring more about her image than their "devastated children" as a split between two of Britain's most illustrious families turned increasingly bitter.
Ben Goldsmith, a millionaire green investor, took to the social networking website Twitter to declare that it was "a bit late" for Kate Rothschild to "fix her reputation", and posted a link to a story detailing her affair with an American rapper.
His outburst came as pictures emerged of the family home in west London, which went on the market just before their final separation for £20 million.
Mr Goldsmith, 31, and his wife, 29, a member of the Rothschild banking dynasty, met as teenagers and married in 2003...
Their marriage ran into difficulties earlier this year, amid claims that Mrs Goldsmith was leading an "increasingly nocturnal" lifestyle since she went into the music industry with a company called Roundtable Records.
She had an affair with the rapper Jay Electronica during a trial separation from her husband, and although they were reconciled the marriage ended last week.

Jay Electronica ... had an affair with Kate Rothschild.
Mr Goldsmith claimed to have discovered incriminating messages on his wife's phone and was arrested and cautioned after slapping her and injuring her leg with a child's toy during a showdown at their home last Wednesday.
Details of their split first appeared in British newspapers on Sunday while Mr Goldsmith was on holiday in Italy with his children and his mother, Lady Annabel, prompting his estranged wife to issue a statement...

Mrs Goldsmith also said she was "devastated" and that "her main concern now is for her children".
Yesterday, Mr Goldsmith used his Twitter account to reply.
In a message to his 6000 followers, he wrote: "@kateroundtable has hired Project Associates Ltd to fix her reputation (bit late surely?). How about focusing on her devastated children?"../
News of the sale of the couple's home in Kensington also emerged on Monday. Built in 1860 and described as a "unique" villa, it has more than 5600 sq ft of living space spread across four floors, as well as solid oak flooring, a summer house and large garden.
Earlier this year it had been claimed that the couple were hoping to make a private sale, but now the house is being advertised by two estate agents.
Meanwhile, Electronica, who was born Timothy Elpadaro Thedford, returned to Britain from Los Angeles on Monday. He declared on Twitter that "love is on the way"...
