How so ... in pointing out what media seems to look past

The world is in turmoil.

China relies on Europe, their biggest market.

Europe is in crisis.

Climate collapse and Mass Extinction is occurring.

And all liberals can bang on is debt.

So if Liberals want to slash spending, so to drive Australia into depression. Ramp up unemployment and bankruptcy.

Where is your logic ?

Shares set for 12-month low amid euro woes

The Australian share market is heading towards a 12-month low after falling sharply at the open amid ongoing worries about the eurozone's debt troubles.

At 11:20am (AEST) the All Ordinaries Index has dropped 2.1 per cent to 4,120 and the benchmark ASX 200 index is matching that loss at 4,070.

Mining stocks are among the hardest hit, as they are most exposed to any slowdown in global growth.

BHP Billiton has dipped 3.7 per cent to its lowest level this year, Rio Tinto is off more than 4 per cent and Fortescue Metals has slumped more than 8 per cent.

The big four lenders are not faring much better; Westpac is leading the declines, giving up 3.2 per cent and Commonwealth Bank has lost 2.7 per cent.

One of the only bright spot is the gold miner Newcrest, which has risen 4.5 per cent after recent steep falls.

The Australian dollar remains subdued against its US counterpart and was worth 98.5 US cents, 77.7 euro cents, 78.2 Japanese yen, 62.5 British pence and more than $NZ1.29.

West Texas Intermediate Crude oil was down to $US92.54 a barrel and Tapis crude oil was down to $US115.75 a barrel.

Spot gold was trading at $US1,574 an ounce.

Did you not realise that the ALP and Greens are the minority government of this country and as such, they are the only ones capable of creating, shaping and legislating policy? Obviously when something goes wrong for this craphole of a government, the blame must be shifted elsewhere - preferably to the Opposition! Morons.  Cheesy

Australia is currently the envy of the world ... because of the stability created by the Greens, Independents and the ALP.

Now Liberals want to take a radical path of attacking the wealth of Australians and drive up the cost of living.

Where is your logic in this path?

Isn't the purpose of the carbon tax to make almost everything from electricity to petrol more expensive and in doing so, force us to use it less in the hope that less electricity and petrol use will save the world? How does this not amount to an increase in the cost of living? Under the ALP and Greens, the cost of living has gone through the roof and continues to rise due to Labor's reckless spending and borrowing while loony policies from the Greens such as the carbon tax and mining tax scare off investment and put thousands of jobs at risk. How is any of THAT good for our country? If the current ALP/Greens government collapsed tonight, it wouldn't be soon enough!

No, is this why you are anti a market mechanism to shift the economy onto sustainable footing.

Anyhoo, this thread is not on Greens or Labor. It is on Liberal's losing the plot.

Why do Liberals support driving the Australian economy into a depression, it doesn't require.

Why do Liberal want to attack the wealth of Australians. Then hit Australians with even higher cost of living pressures.

Why do liberals want to ramp up bankruptcies and unemployment.

It is one thing Liberal's leader is an economic illiterate.

And it's treasurer is more interested in eating the pie rather than growing it.

Yet what of the rest of the party and the supporters. You all know Abbott is holding you back and leading you further into the wilderness ... yet why do you all follow?

Costello?

If so, why is he attacking Abbott as an economic illiterate.

Even Clive Palmer wants Costello back because he knows Costello is correct.

Abbott is an Economic illiterate and will drive Australia into the wall.

Why court economic disaster when all Liberals have to do is find a safe seat for Costello, dump Abbott and Hockey, and lift your pathetic economic credentials.

I understand the economic illiterate Liberal posters are cowards and scared of discussing their rationalism for wanting to driving Australian in a wall.

No, Peter Costello, Liberal's previous treasurer is calling Abbott an economic illiterate.

So if Liberal supporters support an economic illiterate leader, this makes them economic illiterate ... or just stupid.

I had a former boss in a company I worked for who could barely add one and one and had the writing skills of a year 7 student.

His business made more in a year than most on this board would make in their working lives.

You dont have to be the best at everything to be a great leader, you just have to know how to get the best out of those around you.

Sure, this may not necessarily apply to Abbott, he might not be getting the best out of those around him, but he doesnt need to be economically literate to be PM if he has excellent people around him.

Swan holds an arts degree and won some treasurers award.

I find it amusing that you are trying to base your argument on a line by Costello, and trying to read more into it.

Its sad.

Like my old boss said, why do I need to worry about the money, thats what I pay you for.

Valid argument for a private business but this is politics. As the leader he must be on top of all policy or he will be destroyed by the media and discarded by the party. He does have to become PM first.

Verge is right. govt is a GROUP job not a one-man for every portfolio thing. Often a leader's job is to do nothing more than lead while the next tier actually does the job. Its not at all amazing that few on here understand that. Few-to-non have ever been near the top of onay commercial tree.
