FAIR WORK REVEALS MORE ABOUT HSU INVESTIGATION.

May 7, 2012, 12:18 pm.

Fair Work Australia has found more than 180 breaches of Health Services Union rules in its investigation into the troubled union.

The latest revelations have been made in a statement by Fair Work Australia's general manager Bernadette O'Neill, which was released today.

Ms O'Neill says the investigation reveals an organisation that abjectly failed to have adequate governance arrangements in place to protect union members' funds against misuse.

"Substantial funds were, in my view, spent inappropriately including on escort services, spousal travel, and excessive travel and hospitality expenditure," she said.

She says the contraventions involve the HSU national office along with two current officials, a former auditor, and one former official.

Ms O'Neill says the majority of contraventions relate to the former official but will not name the officials concerned for privacy reasons.

Fair Work sent the results of its three year inquiry to the Director of Public Prosecutions which has now handed the document to the Victorian and New South Wales police.

Labor MP Craig Thomson was the union's national secretary before entering Parliament. He has been accused of misusing union funds when he was the union's national secretary, but denies any wrongdoing.

I am surprised that this wasn't already posted.

Anyway, it is clear now that the "crossed line" was the fact that the report was going to be released, not any actual offense, over which no-conscious Julia Gillard would have any concern. The implications of this are HUGE, and it is pretty clear that Craig Thomson is the former official to whom to the report alludes.

I do not see how he can still enter Parliament, with this now even more firmly around his neck, not how Gillard can accept his vote. Interesting times ahead...

Ms O'Neill, are there any other union officials having a jolly good time using members' funds? Don't look too hard Ms O'Neill.

NO, and he is not likely to be before the next election, if at all.

Well... y'know... righties... they've got to talk about something. Can't talk about their policies can they?

The fuss is the Libs have an attack dog as leader that suffers from little weiner syndrome combined with a belief he has a right to rule, a very toxic mixture indeed.

Abbott should concentrate on asking Clive Palmer to get some policies together so the Libs have them ready for the next election

Abbott is sh iting himself about how he is going to tell Clive he doesn't want him as the member for Lilly. Apparently Clive keeps calling phony Tony but phony Tony is "busy" Clive is not happy. Its all going to end in tears for phony tony.

Not suprisingly, Craig "red light" Thomson has rubbished the report. Obviously he is going to proclaim his innocence right up to the moment he's found guilty.

To be found guilty of something one must first be charged with something ... I know it's merely a technicality, but one that I think may be important .......

Maybe he was looking for an cure? Health workers like to cure things.

Or maybe he was trying to get the sex workers to join the union! Y'know, I bet nobody here has ever considered that angle.  Shocked
