Children @ HIV Blood Transfusion Risk

Children's lives are increasingly being put at risk world wide as activists lobby to lower blood donor standards exposing children to the consequences of the lifestyle choices of reckless self centered Adults through HIV, via contaminated blood transfusions.

Acting on a plea against the recent transfer of the police officer who was probing the case in which around 25 thalassemic children from Junagadh had tested HIV+ after undergoing blood transfusion at a blood bank at the Junagadh Civil Hospital last year, the High Court on Tuesday ordered the investigating officer to remain present before the court on April 26.

The petitioner, Girish Das, had alleged that the investigating officer in the case was transferred at a time when the probe was in a “crucial” stage.

Das had earlier moved a public interest litigation on the matter.

According to Das, Assistant SP Shobha Bhutada, who was investigating the case, was recently promoted and transferred to Amreli district as SP with malafide intention to so that the investigation could be remote-controlled. He has demanded a direction to the state government to make sure that Bhutada completes the investigation in the case despite her transfer.

In February this year, the HC had ordered the state government to register an FIR in the case against those responsible on the basis of a complaint lodged by the parents of the victim children. The court had also ordered to get the investigation supervised by a senior police officer of DIG rank.

The entire episode of the thalassemic children getting HIV infection allegedly during blood transfusion at government hospital due to negligence of authorities had surfaced in September last year.

I am starting to think they might be right, it may be in the long term benefit of those making healthy lifestyle choices from abstaining altogether from donating or receiving blood to avoid contamination with the increasingly sick and declining health of the modern world and let them die off of natural selection passing their own contaminated blood around to each other in transfusions. You cant take a transfusion from a blood supply having to accept the lifestyle consequences of God knows what they have done to themselves.

I've never considered them totally crazy for their refusal to give or take blood.

However, it would be a tough call to make if one's child needed a transfusion.

I think its probably necessary, those making healthy lifestyle choices should not share genetic material with those who are not.

Gay men blood donor ban to be lifted

The lifetime ban on blood donations by homosexual and bisexual men will be lifted in England, Scotland and Wales.

Ministers have agreed to let men who have not had sex with another man in the past 12 months to donate from November.

The restrictions were put in place in the 1980s to prevent the risk of HIV contamination.

However, the latest medical evidence presented to a government panel argued the ban could no longer be justified.

Ministers in the three countries accepted the argument and said they would be relaxing the rules. Northern Ireland is expected to make a decision soon.

The National Blood Service screens all donations for HIV and other infections. However, there is a "window period" after infection during which it is impossible to detect the virus.

In the UK, a lifetime ban was introduced in the early 1980s as a response to the Aids epidemic and the lack of adequate HIV tests.

The science is settled on the issue of lifestyle cause blood contamination. The lifestyle choices of certain groups have been conclusively shown to degrade the quality of their blood. I would not want my immune system wiped out by sharing in the consequences of the life choices of the sexually promiscuous people or drug addicts. I also would not like to see such a reckless person get a transfusion ahead of someone more worthy like children, Motor accident victims and serious operations.
