Illegal Immigrants costing us $60m per year

Illegal Immigrants are costing us at least $60m every year on legal fees to provide them with free legal advice. That number is surely going to rise as more and more boats come prior to Tony Abbott becoming PM. It is just disgraceful that this ALP government continues to to take the low road by playing politics with this issue when they have a clear, proven solution right in front of them but won't use it - because it is a Coalition policy.

Which solution is that? As far as I know both government and the Noalition are as one on their policies for asylum seekers.

The majority are granted refugee status.

The majority are granted refugee status.

They are - they skip over perfectly safe countries during their journey here. If they just wanted somewhere to seek asylum, they would find the closest safe country and that would do. But noooo - they want Australia only and no other country will do. I noticed a picture of a kid on a boat holding up a cardboard sign asking, "where will we go?" and the answer to that is another question - "why come here instead of somewhere closer to home?"...
