Next years v8 Supercar series will be RIGGED!

For those who don’t know the v8 supercars are allowing other car manufactures to join the championship next year such as Nissan.

Now given that the v8's fan base is strictly a ford and Holden crowd.
They will not be able to let anybody but Holden or ford to win next year and possibly the next few years.

Why?
Well this is clearly a monetary move on behalf of the v8 supercar management, and obviously they want it to work.
But if Nissan or someone else wins the fans will probably be very angry.

The best way to overcome this is to have ford and Holden kick their asses so that fans will become confident that they are not moving in on their turf.

What do you think?
The motive is there and when money is involved you can be sure people will try and make things go their way.

No. The reason is because they've found that the numbers of purely Ford or Holden supporters is declining and to grow the sport they need to introduce other makers and with them, more race fans.

Even V8 Supercars are a huge investment on just a team basis. For a new manufacturer to be introduced to you need at least local distributor support and with that support of the parent company. They aren't going to sit and take a year or two without being able to play up the front. No results for three years and they will pull the plug on the effort and that's something that would look very bad for the series.

They are going to have to be carefull with how they implement the new manufacturers. The current V8 engines from Nissan, Toyota etc are several generations ahead of the currently used Ford and GM ones as used in the series. Working within the current rules these engines will produce more power for far less development that what we find in the current Ford vs Holden series.

Numbers are not declining, maybe in car sales but not supporters of the sport; out of all sports v8 supporters are some of the most loyal.
I heard on 7's coverage of the clipsal today that they had record attendance this weekend.

I know running the serious would cost billions and the owners get a good return, but this move is strictly to increase profit as they wouldnt alter their image otherwise; no huge business would.

I guess we shall wait and see but there is good reason for them to stop Nissan winning this first year.

while production v8 engines may not be world class, the ones used for racing are.

You need to relax, PP. Such a stressed out little soul.

You seem to have a major meltdown about everything.

Deep breaths.

Where in this thread did I have a meltdown?

And I am probably stressed out because this world is buggered.

Right and this equates to me having a melt down.
I dont exactly give a schit I just think its very likely given the circumstances.

Billions? No. A front running F1 team costs less than $0.5bil per year. V8 supercars aren't even remotely close.

No, they are stoneage when compared to modern V8's running in other classes around the world (except for the USA). Pushrods? World class? you're off with the fuggin' pixies.

As long as they have V8's and do not let in turbos I think it will add to the competition.....Otherwise it will be a waste of time and I will not support it!!!

Go Ford!!!

The need to expand what is a very shaky base is why they are letting other makers in. the ford holden game is running out of financial and constructers steam. If they do not expand then the class will wilt over the next decade. Survival requires new constructors and expanded competition base or it has little future.
