In their defence they have been bombarded with propoganda telling them that this is what should happen on virtually a daily basis over about the last 15 months.

Ah yes I forgot your viewpoint.

The poor performance of the current Government is actually the fault of the Australian media!!!

You do not believe that long term media campaigns can impact opinion?

Tell people something often enough and a lot do start to believe it as being true.

The biased campaigns are clearly apparent and have been ongoing for a long time now.

Yes it does work.

Over the last 15 months any time something happens there are calls for an election, someone drops a sausage roll and we see headlines calling for an election.

This is the same media which seen no need to criticise another PM for illegally going into war based on lies or  had several ministers all receive 27 emails each over AWB and claimed to not know about it or taking the children overboard lie to an election backed by the media. The same media which barley mentioned that Mr Howard had promised to not introduce a GST.

typical attitude. blame the media. Did it ever occur to you that this govt is the most incompetent since whitlam? Ever think that perhaps the reasons there are so few good news stories about Gillard is that there are no good stories to print? This after all was the govt that organised a riot agains the opposition leader and even screwed THAT up.

The media could be biased towards labor and still the results would be the same. Short of making up good news sotirs for labor, there is nothing anyone can do for them.

Don't do much reading these days, LW?

Whilst I agree that Labor certainly has some problems and are likely to be out of office shortly, you apparently don't look at the REAL Economics, otherwise you would understand & agree that Australia's Economic position, compared to most other countries in the world, is actually quite good!

Any suggestion that OZ has deteriorated more than the rest of the world, because of Labor can not be substantiated, if one looks at the relative REAL Debt to GDP ratio's, now versus the start of the current GFC in 2007.

But, as usual, your comments are more about spin, than facts!

PN -

1) You and I agree on current economic situation for both Australia and North America

2) We disagree on the outlook through 2012 and 2013 particularly for North America

3) We definitely disagree on the required fundamentals necessary to address the economic climate (me being a big fan of austerity measures).

In saying that, I do respect your opinion on here infinitely more than a lot of others.
Which is something, I don't tend to respect others...  Smiley

As I've said previously, Andrei, I would very much prefer to be proven wrong, as history unfolds.

However, given the Global Macro factors in play, regrettably, it seems logical that we are headed into a very difficult period ahead!

That said, it's good to see, from your comments, that people can disagree on some issues, without getting into the personal slanging matches that can arise!

Btw, did I read a post somewhere that you were back in OZ on holiday? If so, I hope you are enjoying the break!

Can no one see the possibility that after the ballot today, there will be more blood-letting and people will quit the ALP and a by-election or two forcing an early election?

There are quite a few possibilities, including that one!

An election now would be disastrous, as Abbott would win and plunge
the place back into the dark days of the late 70s-early 80s.

Getting rid of Gillard is NOT worth the risk. The ends
do NOT justify the means.

So good!! to know we now have a chance to get on with things. The outcome was never in doubt,  - it's now down to Rudd to keep his word.

Go Gillard.
