Any "Warming" your way, mates?

We've had just two and three quarter days of summer heat this season..

Now, if it were at least six days, I'd become a true believer that the globe is warming . . .

we know climate is made on another planet and is sent here by some magic force..where these bloody humans stuff it all up so that it doesnt work ...

and that weather is made here on planet earth.. by some bizarre thing called NATURE..

we also know climate has something to do with temperature..again this has nothing to do with rain or cloud or sun and wind..

so explain it all to us philistines...

so at least we can all pretend to be living on the same planet.

You can look forward to a wood heater ban ripper!...or at the very least licencing.
A number of jurisdictions have already banned the installation of new wood heaters.
Next a warm clothing surcharge...

My gripe is that, last Xmas, my grandchildren have installed an air conditioner in my bedroom and now keep on asking "Do you switch it on"?

I don't want to disappoint them nor lie so switch it on occasionally, listen to its purr for a few minutes, then switch it off again.

. . .At least my next power bill won't make me blanch

Well, not exactly

There will come a time when politicians will be forced to dispense with all these lobbyists clouding the issue, and just deal with the real science.

Just silly isn't it skip. Smiley
Even a five year old knows a qualified weatherman can't predict what the weather will be like next week with a degree of accuracy, but a global warming haruspex can make very accurate predictions of the planets temperature in the distant future centuries away using an icy pole and a tree.
And tell us what the rainfall will be to boot along with the amount and severity of cyclones.
It's just amazing.
And they also can give past temperatures from an distant age where no white man inhabitiated much of the globe.
It must be magic skip.
Perhaps a global warming haruspex should be giving us the weather reports instead eh?
This could make alot of people feel better about things eh. Smiley

Very difficult to predict weather, but extremely easy to predict Climate.

I predict Darwin will have a tropical climate. Correct. Cant say what day it will rain, or how much, but it definately has a tropical climate.
Ditto Melbourne has a temperate climate.

Simple stuff.

We can now predict El Nino and La Nina events. Well not so much predict them, but when they occur we can see the effect they have on the climate of the east coast.   Hence the old line of ....Drought to Flooding rains.  A great example of small scale periodic  climate change caused by a 0.5 degree change in sea temperature off the coast.

Well it would be simple stuff if that is what they kept their predictions to eh.
And they don't make their predictions that simple and never have.

Did aboriginals alter the Australian climate bringing about change in flora and the extinction of the megafauna?

And they don't make their predictions that simple and never have.

yes they do.  Darwins "climate" is tropical because it is closer to the equator, and therefore warmer.
Melbourne's climate is temperate because it is sometimes closer to the sun (summer) and sometimes further (winter). sometimes hot, sometimes cold.

If you heat the earth through trapping more suns energy, then the climates will change. We already have established that climate is DIRECTLY linked to temperature, so there you have it.

So simple.

We've had just two and three quarter days of summer heat this season..

Now, if it were at least six days, I'd become a true believer that the globe is warming . . .

Another philistine unable to grapple with the difference between climate and weather, the extreme right are full of these.

ooops here he comes again the only expert on the difference between climate and weather..

come on skip explain it all in plain oldfashioned English.??

we know climate is made on another planet and is sent here by some magic force..where these bloody humans stuff it all up so that it doesnt work ...

and that weather is made here on planet earth.. by some bizarre thing called NATURE..

we also know climate has something to do with temperature..again this has nothing to do with rain or cloud or sun and wind..

so explain it all to us philistines...

so at least we can all pretend to be living on the same planet.

no c&p now skip.. in your own words will do it,.

Well, not exactly

they are probably doing to you what i do to my elderly inlaws. he has a lifethreatening respiratory illness yet wont turn on the A/C until '3pm' regardless of the temperature. high temps could kill him and he is quite well off yet we have to go there and turn it on for him .

what is it about you old people that you wont turn on A/C that are now cheap to run instead would prefer to swelter and/or die as a result?

I want to know so I can avoid it!

*Sure....they're anti competitive as any subsidised job is.  It wouldn't be there without the tax payer.  Very damned difficult for a brainwashed collectivist to understand that I know....  (swaggy) *
