A COALITION government will order the navy to turn around asylum-seeker boats and return them to Indonesia in an assertion of Australian border protection, Tony Abbott revealed.

A Hard Right Policy

Abbott said, "I'll turn back any boat that is seaworthy" or something to this effect.

The fact is that he'd only turn back a couple and the smuggling business would dry up.

What illegal would pay $10,000 if he risked being turned around?

Gillard had the same idea with the Malaysian solution but half-baked (as everything that Labor thinks up).

Well, while the talk was merely talk, the 800 had nearly reached our shores . . .

Would Gillard have stretched the policy to the next 800 in the meantime, we having committed ourselves to accepting 8,000 from Malaysia?

It was an unfunny joke.

Block Australia and desperate people will take even greater risks : i.e same leaky boats, sailing further to NZ. Resulting in greater numbers dead because of Hard Right hate policies.

This whole hard right hate policy would be non existent if the people fleeing persecution where white christians. Hard Right Abbott would be out there, in front of a TV camera, pulling drowning children out ... rather than this way, having his foot hold down a kid' head underwater, so to drown (metaphorically speaking)
