Why did Norman Gunstan never enter politics?
Jan 29th, 2012 at 10:42pm

Back in the 1980's I use to watch Norman Gunstan's documentaries and greatly enjoyed his refreshing honesty and reflection upon all aspects of Australian life.
I think that if he had ever entered the political arena he would have made a good politician.
It's a shame that he was not there to contest John Howard.

He was an idiot.
Probably perfectly suited to federal politics.

I do recall that he was(n't) the Lord mayor of Wollongong back in the 2JJ days....

Garry McDonald is a classic....

You're not very observant are you TL? The clowns in our federal parliament are always entertaining. We have a goon in federal parliament that thinks O'Possum Bay is the capital of Tasmania. We have an MP who thought that failing to declare certain things on his pecuniary interests page was just 'untidiness'. We've had an MP who recorded on a white board the distribution of grants of OUR money to various organisations. We had an MP who didn't know the difference between a V8 engine and a 4 cylinder engine.

Etc. Etc. Etc.

You want entertainment. Just look our politicians for your entertainment.

The ALP, the progressive party, the party of ideas, the workers' friend, is the only Australian political party to roast four young Australians in roof cavities. SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!

I remember the little bits of tissue paper where he nicked himself shaving. He personified cultural cringe.  Grin
