Ron Paul is a little too honest for this Jewish Billionaire:
Pro-Israel billionaire saves Gingrich
American billionaire Sheldon Adelson
An American billionaire and a close ally of Israeli Premier Binyamin Netanyahu has donated US$ 5 million to the electoral campaign of US presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich, infamous for his hawkish anti-Iran stances.Gingrich's campaign had faltered after he was targeted by a USD 3-million advertising barrage sponsored by Restore Our Future, a Super PAC (political action committee) supporting another presidential hopeful, Mitt Romney.
However, on Friday, billionaire Sheldon Adelson rushed to Gingrich's aid by giving a USD five-million check to Winning Our Future, a Super PAC that supports Gingrich.
The Super PACs emerged in 2010, when the Supreme Court's Citizens United ruled that limits on corporate and union spending in elections were unconstitutional, as long as these groups did not coordinate directly with a candidate's campaign.
Adelson is the founder and majority owner of a Las Vegas-based Company that runs casinos.
His company, however, is under federal investigation for the possible violation of a federal antibribery law. The US Securities and Exchange Commission and the Justice Department are both investigating allegations of corruption at his company.
Adelson also owns the Israeli daily Israel Hayom which is credited with helping Netanyahu return to power in 2009.
Gingrich has adopted a militaristic and fierce anti-Iran stance in his campaign, harshly criticizing the administration of President Barack Obama because of its 'moderate' policies towards Tehran.
Speaking at the Republican presidential debate on November 12, 2011, Gingrich, the former Republican speaker of the House, openly advocated “maximum covert operations” against Iran including assassinating Iranian scientists.
Gingrich also called for “actively funding every dissident group in Iran.”
On December 8, 2011, Gingrich said he would resort to "covert capability" to bring about "regime replacement" in Iran and sabotage Iranian refineries “everyday.”
In an interview with CNN early in December, Gingrich said that if elected president, he would opt for a joint military campaign with Israel against Iran.
The US and its allies accuse Iran of pursuing a military nuclear program and have pressured the UN Security Council to impose four rounds of sanctions against the country.
As a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Tehran insists it is entitled to utilize nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
