You dont need to be a rocket scientist to know that unless they follow a popularist line all govts will be low in the polls while they are introducing ground breaking policies.
I reckon Labor will be low in the polls for the next 6-12 mths and then they will be throwing everything into getting re elected, middle class welfare, pensioner handouts, reffo bashing etc...exactly the same pattern as the Howard govt followed. So if they cant turn the polls around they will lose govt in 2 yrs time..quite simple really  Cheesy

It is not earth shattering to know that if you lie to the Australian people to get elected, that your arse will be handed back to you in spades.

Name one political party in this countries history that didnt lie to gain power?

But when they changed their minds - they've always taken it to the next election

Everyone except Gillard methinks

Hey, what happened to this fortnight's Newspoll!?

Could it be that Newspoll and the un-Australian editors of the Australian Newspaper didn't like the results...again!?

Lamenting the shift in the Australian psyche, away from the egalitarian ideal of the fair-go - and the rise of short-sighted pollies, who worship the 'Growth Fairy' and seek to divide and conquer!

It is a dogs breakfast for labor, so what is the point of every 2 weeks. Waste of recourses.

Give it to us every 3 months and the results will be almost the same.

You can have my poll right now - Labs are finished, finished in NSW, finished Federally the same way next election, then they won't be back ever, too old fashioned, too out of date, too much antiquated marxism and all that socialist garbage

2012 will see the beginning of a change in human thinking, lies and deceit will go, along with the libs and labs - finito

No more smart ass mob rule, no more disenfranchising people and no more monetary hanouts

No more freedom destroying sayings like - "It's easier to pay a fine than it is to go to court"

No more throwing aluminium cans in rubbish bins

No more burning out your neighbors power tools and

No more sneakily driving 5 kph over the speed limit in built up areas

Labor will have to hold firm between now and the carbon tax introduction. After then when the world does not end they might improve markedly depending on how they handle the promotional side.

True, because the carbon tax will save Kakadu Natonal Park and The Great Barrier Reef. Surely people will see that!

Well matty as is the normal in your ignorant world of alice in wonderland you have no vision, people will become suspicious of abbott when his "the sky is falling" mantra over the carbon tax proves not to exist. As things like the increase in the tax free threshold and compensation come in and they face a rise in their power bill from say $300 per quater to $302.10 an increase of 0.023 cents per day, that a little being careful means more money in my pocket. That might mean a reduction in power consumption to save money, OH! geez that would mean a reduction in emissions how odd. Anytime you change tax, prices will increase. What do you think Howard did the FTB for. It was to reduce pressure on wages and inflation so that he could pretend the economy was doing better than it was after the GST increase hit. He managed to increase the welfare bill enormously to a point that we cannot afford it but any suggestion that it be cut is met with outrage in the community. You really need to awaken from your haze of lib licking and realise there are no good politicians only power hungry and greedy ones.

You guys are riding your hopes on a government that can't get much right, to get the compensation right. Good luck with that.

You also have the problem that either people will not be hurt (compensation vs tax price hikes) and not feel any better or worse, and you have people that will get hurt by the tax.

Either way, the people will still be angry at being lied to because they are no better, no worse, or worse off.

Good luck with that.

Labors polls wont change until they dump,Gillard, if they are smart they'll wait until a couple of months out from the next election, then the libs will be stuck with Abbott, and buggered, because Crean or Rudd will kick Abbotts ass, and if Rudd is re elected the punters will think they got their way, I can already smell yet another Labor victory, but this time with a majority.
