The BEST advice for dealing with trolls is to ignore them, full stop.

Give other members a bit of credit, for they usually can recognise when people are posting biased, unreasonable nonsense, but even so, I think we can all empathise with feeling annoyed when we see our loved ones being unfairly besmirched.
Now as I have not actually seen any of the postts in question, I will not take sides, and merely speak of the general principle of how inappropriate behaviour of the kind you describe, would be.

Those who are always polite, always open minded, and always tolerant, are truly rare, the rest of us can aspire to such admirable qualities, but few will ever attain them all, so in the meantime we need to make allowances for others, as we wish to have made for ourselves.
